My dear mundane, I suspect that this is becoming a pattern with you.
Can you not leave me to my own devices? If you are determined to pursue this course of action and to ignore my wishes, then I suppose I must resign myself to the inevitable.
And yet I must make one more attempt. I do hope you will reconsider, even so.

[He is most displeased by this piece of news.]
I am certain that there are many great people to be found there, but all the same, I would rather not go.

shrieks
I told my mundane that as well, except a great deal less politely, but it made no difference; they do not listen, regardless of what one says, and our discomfort only seems to encourage them. Are you a very important sort of person? Only she has done nothing but make high-pitched noises ever since she saw your post, and it is beginning to hurt my ears.

I am no one of any particular importance, and I feel I must apologize for any discomfort you are experiencing because of your writer's reactions.

Oh, you need not apologise for my mundane, I am sure; only she gets these funny ideas in her head sometimes, and it never ends well for anyone. But I have quite forgotten my manners: my name is Temeraire, and might I ask yours?

As does mine. Even now, she is beginning work upon a certain piece of writing that shall seal my fate. And I am Jean Valjean.

That is a great pity, M. Valjean, and I wish I were able to do more than wish you luck, but I am sure you will need a great deal of it.

I appreciate the sentiment all the same, M. Temeraire. [It does seem odd to refer to a dragon as Monsieur, but the niceties still should be observed.]
