I can understand why you don't want to apply me into a game yet... [Errr. It's not like that Pearl! I swear.] You don't need to lie for my feelings. I only hope we'll both be more confident next time! You don't need to worry about me wandering...

I know my past now, I know myself now. This place you wish to take me without Elazul or my other friends... It sounds interesting even if my friends won't be there with me. Will we have another adventure there? [Unlikely, Pearl. It's why I'm putting you there in the first place.] Oh. Poor her, me?, then when she finds out about this.

But I'm happy that it's somewhere calm. After all we've been through, I think it will be nice to just relax. Can we live in a house like our friend's? Somewhere warm and comfortable. I spoke about it before... remember? [Maybe, Pearl. Maybe.] I can't wait then! Thank you, mundane.

Perhaps it is only fitting that you wait, if adventure is not to your taste. We will likely have to work hard to establish ourselves in this place - it might be dangerous, at the start. Settling a new land always is!

[Zed would know, seeing as how he accompanied a band of demons trying to conquer the world, and was repeatedly thrashed by the heroes for it.]

But, I shall work hard so that it is a calm place for you, upon your arrival! A calm and peaceful place, where many things can grow.

Aaaa! [Pearl jumps a bit in surprised but calms herself when she sees the other person means no harm.] I-I'm sorry about that. You caught me by surprise.

[She did hear what he said, however, and his words are a comfort for her to know.] Thank you so much for your words and promises. It's comforting to know that. And I hope you will have a good time there too... I am Pearl of the Jumis and it's nice to meet you, sir...?

[And Zed stumbles back a few paces at Pearl's startled reaction. Wait. Did he mess something up again?

...no, it seems she's just a very jumpy human. Zed lets out a sigh of relief before recovering his composure as well.]

I am Zed, formerly of the Quarter Knights of Saturn Hiades! [She certainly seems like a friendly enough person, at least.

But I left behind that life, and now I am a simple warrior, doing good wherever I am able.

Oh! You were a knight? [Like Elazul or Sappho or even her other self? No... He seems very friendly and open at first meeting. So not like them.] But you left to help people like my friend...

Couldn't you have done the same when still under service of your knighthood? Or were there rules on how to do it? Where I am from, the knight can only protect their guardian.

[Zed is obviously taken aback, as the many and varied vocabularies of two very different worlds comes into play once more.]

Yes. I'm one but not the one you know of. I help my Knight, Elazul, by healing him with my tears in turn of him protecting me. I once couldn't cry but my friend helped change that.

[She doesn't seem taken aback by his words but, a little bit at least, and instead appreciates the frank answer.]

I never heard of Mediums before. I think this is what my mundane warned me about how there would be different worlds when entering here... What is your world like? Filgaia is its name, I believe?

Yes, Filgaia! Truth be told, it is a sad sort of world - a world where the people are at constant war with monsters, and much of the land is desert and waste!

The one I have since found myself in is much nicer. The only shame is that I am the only one there. If my companions could see it, I know they would be overjoyed to join me!

[If Aura was somehow brought to Cape Beryl, Zed would never, ever leave. Of course, that would be the case anywhere she was.]

There are many others from many different worlds. At the moment, we are all occupied with gathering our wits. But, once we have, I am sure we will all learn more than we ever thought to learn!

[Like about farming.]

That sounds horrible... Fa'Diel isn't like that for sure. We were just separate from one another until my friend helped build the ways for us to connect with each other. If it weren't for them, my race would have even be extinct by now.

[She listens to him speak of the others from the 'many different' worlds and is intrigued by it. Oh, she can't wait to go there soon.]

I wish I could be there now to help you all... I'm not the best in anything but I would do my best! Maybe I could teach you all how to play music to spirits. It is how we gained special types of metal from them to make weapons and tools.

[Playing music to the spirits...she does sound a bit like a Medium, even if the terminologies are different.

Well, Cecilia was a Medium, and she'd tolerated him well enough. Maybe that was okay.]

...almost no one is the best at anything. But if you try your best, things go well for you.

[You should never limit what you can do just by how good you are at it. Such was perhaps the most important lesson Zed ever learned.]

There is a blacksmith in town. I am sure they would appreciate whatever you could do, as long as you worked hard.

It's just my friend I speak of... They're amazing! They can catch eggs and fight monsters and see the faeries. They saved me so many times from danger. If I can be half as good as them, I'll be happy.

A blacksmith? [She knows a bit of Watts but only through the wallet incident. She hopes whoever this blacksmith is they're bit more clever to avoid being scammed.] Since my friend spoke a bit of how to make golems, I suppose I could help them with telling them that if the person doesn't know knowledge of them yet. Maybe my knowledge of my world could help you all?

[Granted she needs to make sure she says it in the right way so a golem doesn't try to rule the world.]

If you have knowledge to offer, that would of course be helpful! We are all making our own way and doing the best we can...in unfamiliar environments and trying unfamiliar things! [Like farming. Most of the new arrivals know nothing about farming. Thus, making it up as they go - Pearl will be in good company.]

You will not stand out at all. [Okay, she has a giant gemstone in her chest. But, Zed is a demon, and no one's raised a fuss about that, yet.] Perhaps you will even find yourself among friends.

It's nice to hear how you all are working together to make a home for yourselves when you all must have been so surprised to go there. It's also nice to hear that I could make friends in this new place.

I do need to ask a question. There are no monsters, are there? Because that is one thing I can't help you with... [She looks down and blushes scarlet, scrambling in her head to correct herself.] N-Not that I wouldn't try to help! Not me-me of course but me all the same.

Indeed, there are monsters! Wild and vicious beasts, in fact! But they are very far away from the village, up in the mountains and such. You do not have to see them if you don't want to.

[Not unless you go traipsing around unarmed and making a lot of noise. As Zed found out to his nearly great cost.]

And you would not need to help if they did attack! I am a warrior to be proud of, after all - once I get a new sword, I can hold off an army of wendigos!

Well, somewhere quiet's not so bad. More exciting places are a little… concerning. [pretty much a vast understatement, but he doesn't particularly care to frighten her.]

Oh no! It isn't bad at all. While adventure is nice to have now and then... [She thinks of Alexandra, the Jewel Lord, her friend's willingness to cry for them despite the danger.] I think I would like to take a break from adventures. First it was to be back home in the Bejeweled City but... Cape Beryl will maybe just as good. It sounds sweet from what mundane told me.

Will you be going there too?

Mm. It's a pain to have to be on the edge like that all the time. [nods] Yeah, it definitely sounds it.

I don't know… I'm in one place at the moment, and I might be going to a different one, we're not sure.

You are already? You're lucky! My mundane is apparently having a hard time for a place for me until she learned of here.

(Pearl drifts off as she looks down and blushes, feeling bad for being a burden on the writer.)

This place you are at already... Is it somewhere peaceful for you? Or do you have more adventures there? She spoke of how there are different things to expect from many games.

Ah, but if she did that, then she's sure it's right for you, don't you think?

[He makes a face, rubbing the back of his head.] Well… it hasn't really been bad so far, but… well, to start with, things are a bit off from my original universe. And she has plans. Adventures are definitely an option, though.

[She notices the tone he takes when describing where he is and blinks a few times, wondering if she should question it or not.] Um. The way you say plans... It doesn't sound like you like the idea of them very much.

Is she a bit like Niccolo? He means well but there are times he causes trouble for people without meaning it.

...... Possibly. Even my friend at times was unsure of his intentions.

[he shakes his head, and pulls a face, nose crinkling.] Not so much. She knows what she's doing. I suppose, on the bright side, it's not permanent.

Some people are like that, it's true. Would you like to tell me a little about him?

That's good to know! Those I met when meeting my mundane for the first time spoke of how others like her would have plans like they were bad things.

Niccolo? Hmmm... I didn't get to meet him for myself but my friend told me a lot about him whenever they visited the City. [She thinks about what was said, trying to remember the most interesting things about the .] He's a traveling salesman and found in the oddest of places like dungeons and dreams in hopes of making money.

Apparently he likes to think he's spreading happiness but my friend thinks he likes Lucre more with how he tricks people to earn a profit.

It does rather depend on the plan, admittedly. Still… I hope yours won't come up with anything very bad for you.

Huh. He sounds a little like some merchant cats I know… I wonder if there's any relationship there.

[he snorts] Well… that's some merchants for you. I suppose he's got to keep himself going, but still. The proof's in how things turn out for everyone.

From what the others have told me, she's going 'easy' on me by planning to send me to places that aren't where they are or where she plans to?

[Because despite what the other muses thought, the mundane did have a heart. Excuse her.] And I only know of one cat, in a sense, and that's Daena... She isn't a merchant but a monk-solider of Gato Grottoes but I think my friend mentioned how she's leading the nuns now since the Abbess there passed away...

My friend said most of things he's done is mostly harmless. The nastiest trick he ever played done is getting someone else's home but letting them still live there in exchange of helping them work. My friend is still embarrassed about how they had a hand in that. [She smiles and looks down, a faint hue of red coloring her cheeks.] I'm sorry, I just noticed how I talk a lot about my friend than about myself...

It could be, yeah. I don't think that's such a bad thing, considering.

Ah, I see. Huh, that does sound pretty different… though I suppose across different worlds, you can't really expect everything to be quite as you know them. And… hmm. That sounds as though it would be quite different. Is she doing well, do you know?

I see… well, that's not as bad as it could be. [He waves a hand and smiles.] It's alright. I asked about that. But… why don't you tell me a little about yourself now? What's it like where you grew up?

[Oh dear, Pearl was out and about, and no Lapis Knight in sight. At least she seemed safe, and it sounded like her Mundane was treating her well. So there was nothing to worry about, hopefully.]

!!! [Pearl's face brightens in joy, relieved to see a familiar face at long last here. From the way her mundane spoke, Pearl thought she was the only one here.

She's very happy to know that isn't the case and it shows on her quickly reddening face as she blushed.] It's you!

That's a wonderful thing to know. Your house was so nice when I was last there. How are you? I'm happy to see your face again, friend.

[She nods, yes, it's her! And she can't help but smile a little broader as Pearl shows her bashfulness.]

It makes me happy to see you, too.

[There is a small pause in the conversation, The Heroine shifting her posture to the more casual hand-on-hip pose.]

I'm doing all right. I've been exploring small lands outside of Fa'Diel.

[In other words museboxes.]

So you've been here longer than me? [That's amazing to know! It always seems like her friend is discovering new places.

Pearl shuffles closer, wringing her hands in worry that her friend wouldn't like her approaching so boldly. She just wants to make sure she doesn't miss a word of what she says.] Since that's the case... What is it like here? Is it dangerous here like how my mundane described most games?

She spoke of places where you could meet dragons or go underwater. Or be anything you wish the place to be. I don't understand that last one though.

[The Jumi's increasing closeness wasn't even an issue. It never really had been. As for the question, she has to think it over a little. You know, flicker between the positive and negative options a couple of times before making a decision.]

It's an adventure.

...... It can be dangerous. But you can meet many people, and see many places.

[She nods again, as Pearl relayed information her Mun had given her, and her smile turns smirk-ish at the last bit. After all, The Heroine is an Artificer. Didn't you know? The world is built by your imagination. A sproutling told her so.]

I've met dragons. [Both in Fa'Diel and out.] Your Mun's stories don't sound too far-fetched.

Really? There are dragons out of Fa'Diel?

So she isn't pulling my leg with these stories of worlds meeting worlds in the oddest of places? Or 'curses' falling upon others that have the oddest effects? [Because half the things she's been told do sound like the mundane is trying to see if they can make her believe anything that comes out from their mouth.

Which might be the case for some of them but knowing it isn't all the time is a reassurance for the Jumi.]

Meeting new places and new people... So I get to be an adventurer like you, my friend? That's so exciting to know! I am a bit nervous at the idea of fighting monsters when I'm me and not her but if it's to explore like how you do, I'll try.
