Because the world needs a little slush with our snow. (Spoilers likely within)
I don't know why you've brought me here. If you're trying to torment me, I'm sure there are better ways.
But if it's what you want, so be it. Nothing can be worse than what I've done. I can feel it in my chest like a cancer. You can't ignore your own heart, can you? You can drink potions to forget love, but you can't ignore what you are.
Or what you're becoming.

While he's not happy about it, he knows Regina has done much worse.
All he'll do is reach out a hand and take her's, giving it a small squeeze.]

But she can't look at him. She doesn't want him to see. The minute she feels his little fingers squeezing hers, she presses her lips together and shuts her eyes against the tears that quietly spill down her cheeks.
She wants to say something--thank you, maybe--but her voice is caught in her throat and she simply manages a sad, fleeting tearful smile.]

But, hearing that Mary Margaret had a hand in Cora's death...he's not sure the people he once looked up to as heroes were that anymore. Heroes. Emma, Gold, Charming, all of them were considering the idea of killing Regina.
If only magic hadn't been brought to Storybrooke no one would be doing such terrible things.
He looks up to her when she offers him that smile. What can he say to even comfort her? Unlike Regina, she at least regretted what she did. All he can do is reassure her that:]
You won't become that.

But that faith was shattered. She shattered it herself.
So does she lie to him? Or does she shatter his faith? Instead, Mary Margaret asks in barely a whisper:]
How do you know?
[Convince me, she silently begs.]

Her question makes him think for a moment. 'How do you know?'
How did he know if she wouldn't become that. Regina was good once, wasn't she? But, from all the things he's seen of her...and what he's read of Snow WHite and seen of Mary Margaret. The answer comes to him quickly.]
You regret it. Regina's never done that. To the people she's hurt.
[Except with him. But, that's different. She loved him and hated everybody else. Snow regretted killing a person she hated. So...it makes sense why he believes Snow won't go down that road.]

It's too late. But you know... [Her brow furrows, wondering.] I don't think I would have listened even then.

I understand better than most what you're going through. It's not a comforting thought, I know, but you aren't alone.

But there's no excuse for what I've done. My husband--he warned me. But I didn't listen. And he was right. And now I'm...I don't know what I am.

I only know that I can't be what I've always wanted to be. That road is closed.

Magic? Don't know anything about that, aside from it seems to work and has so many disadvantages that only the crazy or desperate should even think about trying it.
I've...had to kill a lot of people. Some I regret more than others. Guilt is...something you need after the crisis is done. You're not out of danger. No one is. She'll be looking for payback.

You say that guilt is something you need. But why? If you feel guilt, why do you do it again?

Someone I never wanted to be. Someone who would stoop to using dark magic against her enemy.
no subject
But she'll try to untangle that later. She raises her eyebrows.] Dark magic? You? That...IS surprising.
I take it this is a 'desperate times, desperate measures' scenario?
no subject
It was. We had to stop her. I had to protect my family.
{The slightest hesitance...]
But that was not the way to do it. Regina deserves to hate me for it.
