This is going to be great! You definitely chose right - I'm the bravest, strongest, smartest dragon I know. With me here, you'll be fine - it'll be a piece of cake, just you watch. Also, nice work with the name! Turquoise is okay, but sapphire tastes better....Mmm [licks lips].

But, um...do we have to go into this game? ...I mean, I'm glad it's not one of those scary survival horror ones, but I kinda like my tail...and I'll be all pink and squishy...and how am I supposed to send mail???

I know I'm great with animals, so uh...if you make me a breeder, how about something for all the hard work I'll be doing? [Coughs subtly]. I mean, that's a lot of creatures to babysit.

[Shakes an empty bucket hopefully].

[Whines a little] But Zecora, when I do do all the work in the game, I won't be able to eat any gems I get. How is that fair?

[He takes a deep breath and then...

Blasts fire in huge pillar into the sky. Just from being nearby shoots the temperature up to oven levels instantly.

I can teach you to say 'please' when asking your elders for something.

[Squeaks and throws self on the ground, arms covering his head].

[In a higher, shaky voice] S...ssorry. Um...please? [In a hurried voice] But that's cool, I know you must be busy and all....

You are a first learner! Very well, I shall teach you a little trick.

[Instead of leaving Spike be, Shendu carefully picks the kid up to put him on his feet.]

Show me your best fire breath.

Are you trying to bake another cake?

(Rainbow may have a shiny, red sapphire jewel behind her back but her mun's quite intrigued by this news too.)

Don't worry about it; one of my 'animals' would help you out with the babysitting deal, and I'm sure Fluttershy would too.

How many of those Pokemon pets do you have?

My mun is roadtesting me, but told me that if she apps and we get in, I can't eat jewels anymore! This might be my last chance to bake a gem cake before I starve!

Hey, yeah! (Cue wide grin from Rainbow.) It's me, Twilight, Fluttershy and Applejack so far.

(Her wing snaps out like a whip, holding the jewel securely for Spike to take.)

Call it a 'Promise' jewel, Spike - if you're able to get in, we'll have lots of fun and you can still have cake - just without the gems! I've got about...14 Pokemon, and out of all of them 5 are fully evolved. 7 if you add Lapras and Corsola, who don't really evolve.

I can't wait to come travel with you guys! I wish my mun would hurry and write the app...

[Spike's eyes go wide at the sight of the jewel]

[Reverently takes the jewel, then thinks about what Zecora said]

Haha, of course I am! Besides, you gotta eat up and conserve your strength while you get ready for your adventure with the Pokemon!

(She noticed Zecora around in an above thread and grins, patting his head gently with her wing.)

...It's okay, Spike. Even if you don't get in, it's yours. Your mun should get to work on it soon, but ultimately it's their decision.

(And her grin turns sheepish, reminded of a certain ~~Season Finale~~ incident not too long ago.)

Fluttershy helps me out, actually. I could barely look after 1 on my own, and 14...let's just say I'm glad there's a limit on how many Pokemon you can carry on you!

You know, I appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit, but that's not the way things work in that world. The Pokemon protect you from various threats (mostly wild Pokemon) and you take care of them in return.

Also, no one's leaving you to babysit alone this time, Spike. If you show up in Route, the first thing that's going to happen is I'm going to fly down and pick you up, and you're sticking with us from there.

Trust me, it's for the best.

[Rolls eyes] Awww c'mon Twilight, I'm a big pony, I can take care of myself! [Actually secretly extremely relieved].

Besides, don't you need to, you know, practice? [Flaps arm a couple times]. I'd feel a lot safer with Rainbow Dash...

Look, just humor me, okay? We're going to be surrounded by wild animals with powers that make most unicorns look pitiful, I'd prefer you not to be on your own.

And I'm not flying on my own power, humans can't do that. I'm bringing big you.

[About to tell Twilight why nothing can be more powerful than her, when something clicks...]

[Tears are forming in the corners of his eyes].

What? No! Not in the slightest! It's just... you weren't there, and the first Pokemon I got was a dragon, so...

It was the closest I could get to having you with me, so I named him after you.

[In a small voice] You even gave him my name...and he can fly...and is super strong.....

[Sniffs]

[Okay, come here number one assistant, you're getting hugged whether you like it or not.]

That's not even close to being true. I named him after you because I miss you. No one could ever replace you. I thought we'd settled that after the whole Owlowiscious debacle.

[Hugs Twilight back tightly]

[In a sniffly voice] ...You really mean it? You're not going to send me away? Even though the other Spike is bigger and stronger?

[Under his breath]Thank Equestria you didn't give that stupid owl my name...

Of course not. [Nuzzle to the top of the head.] I already told you, the first thing I'm doing as soon as you show up is coming to get you. I won't ever let you leave my side.

... You know, trips out of Ponyville notwithstanding. But you'll be coming along for all the adventures in Route, so that won't be an issue.

Except for the adventures where we fight Team Rocket. You're staying back with Fluttershy for those.

Spike, do you really think it's smart to try and get payment out of your mundane?

[Whines a little] But she's going get rid of my tail, and I won't be able to eat jewels anymore. I thought maybe she could at least feed me a big make up meal, you know, so I can cope with the anxiety of losing my tail and all...

Aww... Why don't you talk to Twilight about it? I'm sure she'd give you some gems to make up for it.

You'll do a lot more than babysit if you go there, Spike. You still have to be a responsible dragon, but this isn't just for a weekend; this is for the entire time you're there. As long as you have your heart in taking care of them, I think you'll be wonderful.

...And personally, I think pink is a cute color. (Giggles.)

[Nods] I'll do my best, Princess. It sounds like they're pretty hard to handle and there are a lot of them....but Spike the great dragon can handle it, don't you worry!

[Makes a face]....pink's not a very dragony colour though....

I know you can. And don't forget to only take along the ones you can handle; you don't want to overwhelm yourself, right?

Then maybe you'll at least have green hair! Then you'll look a little more dragon-y.
