Hello, mun!

I'm really excited you didn't decide to let me stagnate until I quieted down. I've watched that happen to a few others in that 'headspace' of yours, but I think the two of us are getting on fairly well, don't you?

I know that, ultimately, I have no say in where you end up putting me, and I know that your tastes tend to veer on the... darker side of things. But despite that, can you at least put me somewhere where I can do some good and make people happy? It doesn't matter if I know them or not; I'd love to see certain familiar faces, of course, but it's not necessary. There are lots of people in these so-called 'games' that look to be absolutely miserable, and I'd feel a lot better about things if I can put a smile on people's faces.

That's all I wanted to say, mun. Maybe you should get back to work now. Idle hands, and all that.

Only that you have this misguided idea about going into "games".

What makes you think it's misguided?

The term mostly. Also, the fact that my writer is continually trying to get me into one again. I refuse.

[No really, refuses. The last game ended and both Sherlock and the writer were left disenchanted.]

You do know that you really haven't much of a choice in the matter, if your mun is really set on a place, don't you? I'd rather not leave London, but we can only make the best of the hand we're dealt.

[Sherlock chuckles loudly.]

Besides, there are many other options beyond "games."

I'm aware that there are other options, but it's hard to dissuade any mun that has a mind to spend his or her down time somewhere more... structured.

What are your preferred options?

Experiments. Did you ever stop to wonder if your idea of 'experiments' would actually be entertaining for others, or is that all a moot point?

[Because it isn't as though a sociopath cares much for the enjoyment of others.]

No. I seek people out because I'm bored. When my writer is bored, I am forced to "offer myself."

[He really hates that.]

Though, when my writer gets creative, we both tend to have a bit of fun.

I'm almost afraid to ask what you consider "creative."

[He flashes a grin.]

Oh, some of the ideas are expansions of the walks taken on Bakerstreet. Others are completely new and still others are the brainchild of myself or my writer. All of them tend to be rather dark and not entirely suitable for everyone to read.

It sounds as though your writer and my mun would get along brilliantly. I don't know why mine bothers with me, considering that she takes perverse pleasure in some of the most horrible situations and I just don't fit into any of them.

You're selling yourself short, Molly. Of course you could fit into them.

I doubt it, even if my mun claims that I 'have' to have a bit of a grim side to work in a morgue.

You have a caring nature. That can be quite... useful to balance out the horrors that my writer puts me through.

I said you provide balance. The real question is: do you want to be involved?

I like the quiet. I like being able to hear myself think and to take the time to figure things out at my own pace.

Well, you won't get any quiet in a game. Though there may be opportunities in other places...

I gave you all the specifics you needed.

The only specific you gave me was that you'd be involved in something dark.

... which, fine, I suppose that's specific enough, considering what I'd said earlier.

I also said "no games" and that I have a place. Though, that last one might have been inferred.

[He raises an eyebrow.]

I think being properly asked to join you on some sort of adventure might be nice. Provided you want me there, of course.

Well, then when an idea for an adventure comes up, consider yourself invited.

'Doing some good' and 'making people happy' are two very, very different things, love. I'd be careful what I wished for, if I were you.

How could anyone not be happy if someone is doing good? Unless that person wanted things to go badly, but then he or she probably has bigger things to worry about than a simple girl trying to keep the peace.

Depends who that simple girl is, and more importantly, what she bears witness to.

What I mean is good intentions don't always result in people being happy with you, let alone people being happy in general. Better not to people-please, is all I'm saying.

I know it's impossible to make everyone happy. But if I can help make some people's lives a little easier, I'll do it in a heartbeat.
