[But he doesn't really have the heart to be angry with the guy anymore, and after a moment of surprise he takes the envelope, tucking it away in his own coat with a nod. He'll hold onto it himself; out of all of them, he should know how important family is.]

I've been backed into a corner. I've lost almost everyone I hold dear. You try being reasonable when the world goes wrong. And you wonder why I don't think he'll come through? He's got every reason to back stab me. Until I get proof otherwise, best to treat it like the knife is coming.

In my defense, I stunned him. If I was a real monster I'd have killed him, but I don't do that. Not unless it's absolutely necessary, and so long as I have my magic gun on me, it won't be.

So there are games that'll take people like us. From our kind of canon, I mean.

No. Most magic guns feed off the energy and feelings of someone, they don't contain someone. Most of them couldn't do it, unless they'd been created specifically for it. In all my travels I've only seen one other like it. By the time I realized there was a soul in the gun, I was back on my ship.

[He nods, a little bit of tension leaving him. Sure, he's never actually met Margaret, but she's still one of them.]

I will. The circumstances of the one gun like her I'd seen before were dark. I don't like the idea people are running around repeating that kind of thing.

[There's an awkwardness between him and Harvey, but Jaeris figures it's one that he's earned. His actions have a fallout. It's just that usually, he's gone before he can actually interact with anyone enough to feel guilty.]

I won't lie, it ain't been a cakewalk. You can't trust these mundane types as far as you can throw 'em. [Yeah, he mad. Long story short, evil mirror dimensions make people do things they'd really really rather not.] But it still beats sittin' around this place doin' nothin'.

[Jaeris thinks it over, but ultimately shrugs his shoulders.] A lot of things happened when I was black bagged in the middle of the night. Before the resistance broke me out... I got to see just how threshold is a sliding scale of sanity. I'll take whatever my mundane sends at me. I always survive. And I always keep going. It's all I know how to do, anymore.

[Well, that's an attitude he can respect. And frankly, he doesn't really care enough about Jaeris to worry over him; if he says he can handle it, that's his business.]
