I get that you're worried, Mun. The whole being gutted from groin-to-sternum thing was terrifying, I know. Considering my C-list status at best, I could very easily have become just another casualty to push Kate's story forward. But hey, I survived! I didn't lose my spirit! And I have a (literally) shiny new costume too!

See, here's the thing. I want this. To be a hero. To realize my own potential. To do something with myself. That's why I'm still wearing a costume, why I still want to fight crime. It isn't to impress some costumed cutie. That hasn't been why I've done this for a very, very long time.

So, let's do this! Find me someplace fun and adventurous where I can finally prove myself!

That really was inspiring. Who knows maybe you'll get lucky this time? Or not, both would be fun to see.

I'd like to think that my getting lucky would be more fun to see than my getting gutted again, thanks.

My mun's glad to see you weren't killed off, Ms. Kane. Though he also says he prefers either of your previous costumes.

I'm a fan of my last one, too, but this one feels a little bit more protective, y'know? Which, given what happened to me, isn't the worst of things.

Although, my own mun insists that I look like some bizarre cross between Nightwing, a Kree soldier, and Hawkgirl.

I suppose that is an advantage.

I do like the comparison there. Pretty apt.

Incredibly apt. It was pretty much his first thought when he saw the costume.

For a moment there, my mun thought I was an Amazon leaping into the fray to help Wonder Woman. Which, given my golden bird chest insignia, I really can't fault him for thinking that.

I can see why. It definitely reminds me of Diana's breastplate.

Whole thing's probably more practical than your first costume, with the skirt.

I did like that costume, though.

Even if it made me look like I should be attending a masquerade mocktail party somewhere.

It was also better than my second look, which my mun insists makes me look as though I was going to try to fight crime at a rodeo.

I don't know. Kinda like that one. Especially the cape.

The cape was fun! I tried to incorporate it into my third design, which I like to think was more streamlined.

...and apparently not all that protective.

I didn't...I didn't say that to be mean, Kate. It's just...Uncle Jake. When I was in the hospital, he was talking about you and Beth and...well.

[Beth. Bette. Two perky blonde girls. The similarities are there.]

But I am focused. Now more than ever. I really...I can do this. I know I can. I just need someone to trust me and not think I'm some flighty blonde who thinks all of this is just fun and games.

Even if it may have started out like that, way in the beginning.
