I don't suppose you think you're being unreasonably irritable about this at all, do you? It's not like you're being asked to sit through an interview yourself, you're just--[This is a little awkward; how to phrase this...] ...I mean, it's not like you're an irregular presence to one another by now or anything, right? He's often thinking about you in some context or another.

It's kind of the same thing... [It's not, really, but still...] It's not like he's suddenly up in your personal space out of no-where. Haven't you two become at least become civil to each other over the years?
