Mundane, you cannot pretend to be surprised with this upcoming turn of events.
Were it not awful enough that I have consumed-unbeknownst to me-secondhand skeleton saliva infected with nanites....in the form of contaminated peppermints!
No, no, you can't stop there. You have to get my hopes up with Rex telling me that "I only have a few thousand of the little things inside me, but that they probably won't activate and that I probably won't turn into a slathering, rampaging beast.
