news about the revival and other things! | jekyll & hyde: the musical.

My dear Writer,

While I am grateful for your enthusiasm (and surely I am; you know as well as any that it is not often that I come across such support), I fail to see what use - if any - that it may have. A theatre for a new production will only cast the sordid tale upon the eyes of thousands of others, and a film thousands more. Both are unnecessary. Furthermore, they both defeat the purpose of my intent. You are aware that I burned my findings for a reason.

It is true that I seem to have conquered my findings, delicately phrasing, but I fear that such things - while worth celebration to you - will counteract my good nature and cause a resurgence of things better left buried. I understand that it is not in your nature, but I must beg you: if you choose one request of mine to fulfill, let it be this one.

I remain yours truly,
Doctor Henry Jekyll

[They're more kindred spirits than they know just yet.]

Good...good for you.

[Bruce doesn't smile back.]

Or penance for doing something wrong.

[That hits home, definitely.]

Sometimes they're too big to correct.

Do you ever think that someday science may do us all in?

There are plenty of senseless men. Wasn't it Einstein who said there are two things that are infinite: the universe and human stupidity...and I'm not sure about the universe.

...Albert Einstein? He discovered the theory of relativity? [Bruce inadvertently introducing the man to more scientific terms.]

I...suppose it's fairly new in the long run of scientific discovery. [Now Bruce finds a smile, a rueful one.] It's relatively new. [It had to be said.]

It's basically the amount of energy squared is equal to the... [No, he'll simplify it] ...measurements of anything are relative to the observers doing the measuring. And space and time should be considered together instead of apart because they're related.

The names are common knowledge, the actual concept is a little tricky to explain sometimes. It's advanced physics. Not exactly everyone's forte.
