As much as I tend to disagree with my mundane, one must admit that the lack of marriage, or rather, constant pressure of it by countless suitors is quite pleasing.

I barely dodged the experience, I was only twelve when my father passed. However, I find my life plagued with nobles and their constant desire to expand on their power and titles. Pointless... pointless men, leading their inane little lives. I have no desire to tie myself down to such a person who cannot properly defend themselves with a gun or sword. Devoting myself to the protection of queen and country is my priority. Only the most intricate love will persuade me into matrimony... perhaps.

I do not tie myself to causes I see as unworthy. Someone needs to protect Britain's citizens from what lurks in the night, and my queen is a respectable leader. I have no problem acting as a silent defender to my country. Outside of my line of work, I am free to live as I please.

Perhaps I will marry someday, but it will be of my own choosing, and not out of obligation to carry on the family line; an 'obligation' of which has been stressed to me by my father as a child, and by the men of which I work with. Simply, I prefer not to burden myself with such thoughts. I will tolerate the council's silly game, playing as my 'matchmaker', and turning down each candidate they present to me. I realize not every woman, even in this day and age, has the freedom to marry whomever they choose; I am lucky in that regard. And yet it is not something I actively desire or pursue.

[Above all other things, Integra can be seen as proud. She is prideful of the things she has accomplished, yet doesn't except reward or praise for them... or even acknowledgement. She is mostly content with her way of living. However, she appreciates Merida's free spirit, and understands her frustration. Sorry for the wall of text.]
