A gang has negative connotation. We're not aiming for violence. We're here to protect the new mutants and introduce them to a world where the law doesn't serve to do the same. It's what we have always done.

I thought the X-Men originally fought to protect mutants and humans alike from mutant terrorists and strove to prove to humanity that mutants weren't to be feared.
