[The demon bear inhales deeply...and smells a Highlander spawn.]

[A deep rumble stirs in his chest.]

[Lips pull back, revealing sharp teeth and hot breath escapes his muzzle.]

[Is that...a bear? Merida's heart skips a beat and she screams in fright, scrambling to hide behind something.

A will-o-the-wisp, huh?

[ He tucks his hands behind his back and conjures in his palm an image, not of fire but of frost. It's still blue, though, and it still looks suspiciously like one of those wisps, even if it's not quite the same. ]

Did it look like this?

[ Grinning broadly, he holds his makeshift wisp out for her to see. It floats into the air and dances around her head, stretching out a cold, bluish tendril to poke playfully at her nose. ]

Yes! Do you know about them? [Merida bounces in place, her fiery curls bouncing along with her.

Yet she goes very still when she sees the blue frost.] Yes! [A helpless giggle follows the giggle and the little girl tries to poke the frost back.]

It's magic, right?

I know a little bit about wisps, yeah.

[ He can't help laughing with her, and with a nudge from his staff sends the frosty wisp up over her head. It disperses into a cloud of snowflakes that flutter down to dust her bright orange curls with white. He crouches down so that he's on eye level with her, smiles, and winks. ]

It is magic, and there's plenty more where that came from, if you believe in it!

Are you magical too? [She squeals and dances in a circle, her arms stretched over her head.] Hee!

[Her eyes sparkle with curiosity and mischief when he crouches down. She nods wildly.]
