I have no wish to go anywhere. No desire to sprout wings, fall prisoner, turn into an animal, cheat death by uncanny means, talk to idiots I have no interest in for no purpose, or do any of the thousand other absurd things you tell me are customary.
My work is customary. I have it, and you have Waterloo. Waste your time reading about mud and 'merde' and the dimensions of doorways. The less time you have, the better off me.

[He takes a chance to look her up and down, clinically. The badge on her chestplate, the body armor, the gun.] I am Inspector Javert, of Paris. Year 1824. A time when we do not expect women to kill. [The last is said offhandedly, almost more to himself than to her.]

For the first time she considers a subtle psychic look - nothing invasive...and decides against it. The whole point of on-the-job training was to learn how not to rely on that.
She exhaled and straightened] Judge Cassandra Anderson...United States of America. 2064.
[not a good idea to mention most of the world is a smoking wasteland by her time] And we encourage everyone to pursue the rules of the hall of justice - killing doesn't have to happen unless the laws are broken.
I am totally cool with psychic stuff if you wish to do mindreading :|b
I shall have to think of something! i love the dynamic these two have btw.
[Traditionally in canon, each lawgiver is coded to the Judge's DNA to prevent theft. They're heavy targets. In this case
handwavey magic and such, there's a trigger-off switch for repairs so weapons check doesn't destroy themselves (not that a judge is ever asked to surrender their lawgiver.Still. They do need repairs. Cassandra hesitates only a moment before flipping the switch and turning the weapon off - handing the weapon over. It's far heaver then what he's used to...Or maybe not?]
Me, too :) I could see them working together. Wasn't expecting that!
[He takes the gun with two hands, turning it carefully to examine it, making certain to keep the barrel pointed away from both of them at all times. The smoothness of the workmanship, the lack of wood—it looks and feels very foreign, but is still quite recognizable as what it is.]
Strange. But, at a guess, efficient. There's no ornament to it. [He speaks without looking at her, without making it clear if he's speaking to her or himself.]
((OOC: It's a one-handed weapon, right? Looks like it's got a magazine at the front. Correct me if I do anything silly with it!))
me neither!
If I didn't deactivate the safety it would release the anti-theft device.
[OOC: you're on the money! It probably won't fire but that's wise.]
Re: me neither!
[He has no clear idea how one might booby-trap a gun—perhaps some sort of poison?—but from what she's said so far, her world seems to lean toward the lethal.]
Re: me neither!
...First thing a criminal's going to take on a cop is their gun?
