Look, guy, you know I've already got a game. I don't get how any of this works, and I'd sure like it if I was just back at the arcade. The things you call "games" here all seem really scary -- bet they're just like Hero's Duty, or worse. So… yeah, you better keep me out of it, especially since I'll probably end up breaking everything and making things worse.

Maybe I am, but it's kind of hard for me to make friends sometimes. I'm not very good at it, and it doesn't help if I'm accidentally wrecking everybody's stuff. That's all -- it's not like a big deal or anything.

Yeah, but if people can't accept you for who you are, they're not worth having as friends.

[A pause. He rubs the side of his neck.]

And this is probably weird coming from a total stranger. It's just that I do know what the not having a lot of friends thing is like, partially because of how I am.

Yeah? So what makes you a loner?

[Pause.] You know, if you don't mind saying.

Yeah, I don't mind talking about it.

Wouldn't say I was a total loner, really. I had and still have a field partner, plus over time I did make some friends. It was just tough at first because I'm not human. I'm something called an EVO, which basically means science screwed with my DNA. And there's a lot of people where I'm from who hate EVOs, like so much that some of those people think we all need to die. So basically I had to get people to see past my "freak" status. On top of that, I also had to make some of my co-workers and my boss realize I'm not just some weapon they can put in a closet when they're done using me, either.

Sounds like a bum deal, kid. I got a bad rap for 30 years 'cause I'm a bad guy in my game. Seriously, though, it's part of the programming, you don't have to treat me like garbage just for that.
