Good afternoon, Lady Mundane. It has been a long while, has it not? More than a gwormmy-blink at any rate. [Queen Alyss, as gracious as always.] While I'm glad that I can inspire your imagination by having you decide to pick me up again, I really have to warn you against biting off more than you can chew.

Not that you'll listen, you're too much like Dodge for that, but nobody can accuse me of not doing my best to deter you. [She grins then.] Although, I think we both know how stubborn I can be.

Living on top of a giant turtle is an interesting notion, though. An adventure, really, but I don't think taking me from the middle of a war for Wonderland's future is the best course of action. [Her head tilts to the side a bit.] Spend some time thinking about it.

The idea of sitting around and waiting for time to start again doesn't really suit me either. [There's a frown on her face. Not that she can do much about it, one way or another.] Are you one of the people living on the turtle?

I've read the first book! I really need to get aroud to the others.

Well, you don't have to sit around, there's plenty of opportunity for adventures, as you put it. [Sometimes these are dangerous adventures, but Steph doesn't want to scare the newbies straight away.]

And I am. [she grins, bowing a little, because she's a dork] Stephanie Brown, at your service, I've been there for about four months now.

yessss do it! I'll try to not really spoil you on anything.

[The corners of her mouth twitch into a smirk.] What sort of adventures are there to have exactly?

[A laugh, and a bow in return.] Queen Alyss Heart of Wonderland. Although I'd prefer just Alyss. [There's a look of surprise on her face.] Four months? It seems almost impossible that time could be stopped back in our homes.

I'll make sure to do so before you app, so we don't have to worry about it

Oh, the usual. Monsters, gangs, abandoned cities to explore, and a party or two. [It's the usual for a vigilante, at least.]

A queen? [her eyebrows go up, clearly impressed] I've met a princess, but you're my first queen. [Steph has Opinions about royalty, but she won't hold it against Alyss.

And she shrugs for the comment about time stopping] I guess it's all relative. Or a bit like how you can wake up a dream that felt like it went for weeks and you've only been asleep a few hours.

[If Alyss were a normal queen, of course these things would sound absolutely awful. But she's always held a sense of amusement over things that are considered dangerous, and besides that, she's a warrior queen. Shouldn't a warrior queen be able to deal with monsters and gangs and parties?] I think those are exactly my sort of adventures, Miss Stephanie.

[A faint smile.] It's been a fairly recent title. I'm not quite used to it myself.

That makes sense. I guess I shouldn't really question what is possible or impossible at this point.

I thought you seemed like the type, you'll get along just fine with the rest of us. ["us" mostly being the vigilantes, in this case, although it really could apply to almost everyone who's been dragged to Tu Vishan.]

That must be a lot to get used to. [Being a queen; it's certainly not a job Steph would want.]

The laws of gravity still seem to apply, if that helps at all. It's just everything else that's been thrown out the window.

Then I have something to look forward to. If nothing else, it should help me to further my imagination. [Which is always a good thing in her case, considering all that's happening back home.]

It has been, but it's something I have no choice but to do. My people need me, and I have a duty to them to be the best that I can be. [Sometimes, Alyss doesn't even want the job.]

I could probably change that. [She's never quite tried before, but there's no reason why she couldn't.]

That's one way to look at it, I just like getting a break from college. [A slight exaggeration, but college really is quite boring, when there aren't secret society's breaking onto the grounds to kill people. But that's neither here nor there.]

How very noble. [It could be mocking, but she seems genuine] Sounds like your people are lucky to have you.
