So, you were telling me about these big things that look kind of like monkeys...but they aren't monkeys? That sounds awesome!

And what are you talking about...needing a backpack? I don't even know what that is, but I don't think I like it. [Simba makes a face, unsure about his new adventure, but, at least most of it sounds decidedly fun!]

Well, so long as dad doesn't know and he can't get mad at me for doing it, I think It'll be just fine! Maybe I can even become king of this new place! Then if dad did come along I could show him that I can a great king, just like he is!

But first I think I'll practice roaring...[He grins, settling himself in a playful, pouncing stance before letting one, decidedly adorable "Rowr" loose.]

[Wrong type of lion Simba. Sort of. And public humiliation and Leon don't live in the same world anymore.]

They actually are monkeys.

[He grins, taking a playful stance himself and offering a challenge to the cub. A teenage pure black lion.]

Are they? What kind of monkeys?

I mean, they're really weird...

[Simba doesn't mind the age or size difference though once presented to him, settling in his stance before suddenly pouncing at the other lion. At least he isn't bad at that. Just, roaring isn't his specialty.]

[He takes the tackle and rolls over, pawing at the cub, before rolling again and standing over him. He hopped away, daring the cub to chase.]

They're like gorillas with no hair. I know, I was one. Still am sometimes.

[Childish laughter erupts from him as he is tumbled over, shaking his head to clumsily bound after him.]

You're not a gorilla! How can you be both at once?

I said they were like gorillas! [He runs and goes to a tree, climbing up to his hind legs and seamlessly morphing to a human form. Be thankful he has pants! Nanite clothes are a gift from god.]

[Just about to pounce on the other lion's leg, the shift has him gasping, backing up immediately and running to hide behind the tree.]

Y-you're a gorilla now! [And scary. He'd like to say that he's brave enough to peak around the tree, but the change had been so unexpected that he's not sure he can.]

I'm a human. Homo sapian. Just a big tailless monkey.

Except I can turn into a lion whenever I like. [A form he's more comfortable with anyway. He drops to all fours and changes back.]

Human... [That sounds strange. And starts with the same letter as Hyena. He's not sure he likes it.] You look funny like that.

[But he does peak around the tree trunk finally, raising a defined black brow.] Could I learn how to do that?

You're better off a regular lion.

But I'm not a regular lion!

[Excuse you, sir. But he looks mightily offended, striking a pose as he moves out from behind his tree-hiding place.] I am the future king.

Regal blood doesn't mean you're above the norm, it just means you're well bred.

[Just about to protest some more, Simba thought back to what his father had said. Respect all of the creatures in the kingdom...That had to mean something, right?]

Well, my father makes the laws...doesn't that mean he's above them?

Monarchy is a status symbol, little one.

If you turn out to be a king not worthy of respect, the other animals will treat you as such.

At least as far as I can tell. [Given what he's seen on Animal Planet he always figured it was a little less organized. Or noble. Just a big Lion-y mess.]

I'm worthy of respect! [He's just going to puff out his chest a little and glare up at the other lion.]

And who are you calling little one? [Simba is a big, bad scary lion, thanks you very much.]

I'm calling you little. You're barely half my size.

[Playful nudge with paw.]

And the merit of being prince doesn't automatically grant you respect. You're still a cub. You have to earn it.

Well, I throw really fun parties! The other animals seem to like them...[Water hole side entertainment, man.]

That'll earn me respect, right?

Being a leader is hard work and a big responsibility. And kid, I can relate.

I don't know what to call my mother, queen of whatever dark place she rules over. But I'm supposed to take her place someday.

Not something I want to do.

I can't wait to be king! It'll be great! Do what I want, no one to tell me what to do...just me, ruling over everything.

It's a ruler who does whatever he wants at the expense of the place and people he rules over.

There were many like that in the human world, because power corrupts, and ultimate power corrupts absolutely.

Hmm. Well, I guess it's just kinda how nature works. You can eat an animal, but if you eat all of the animals you mess everything up. And that's bad. [Because this lion is not Mufasa and cannot articulate as well.]
