It's quite nice of you to go to all of this effort for me. I appreciate it, but let me make this clear: If you're trying to send me to some odd place away from home, the only place I want to go is Narnia. I'd really rather not go anywhere else.

She's not really sure yet, but the idea of sending me somewhere came up and I thought I'd let her know what I thought about it.

Just a white wolf, most likely, swishing her tail back and forth as she looks at Peter. What do?]

[He looks at her curiously. Peter would expect that the Narnian wolves would remember him as Sir Peter Wolfsbane, but this one seems different. Still, she could be dangerous.]

You're not afraid of me at all, are you?

[Her tail swishes back and forth a few more times before thumping against the floor and simply resting there. Why should she be afraid? What is there he has to cause her fear?

She opens her maw and stretches her neck out in a yawn, licking her chops before panting slightly. Is that a good enough answer?]

[Not much, really. He's just a human. But he's used to animals that think and talk, so seeing a wolf that understands him isn't all that strange. She doesn't seem like a threat to him at the moment, but he'd rather be sure.]

Can you talk?

[resolvere]

[Oh dear. She doesn't mean to come across as intimidating in the least. A mother's worries are extensive and all.

She looks down at the ground between them, lifting a paw and bringing it down where now letters are forming words, as if by an invisible brush.

NOT IN THE SAME MANNER AS YOU, BUT I SPEAK.]

[He glances down at her paw, then watches the words as they form. He's never seen an animal speak quite like this.]

That's quite a talent you have. What's your name?

[There are no others quite like the sun god, that is why he has never met one like her. Without her Celestial Envoy, it is the only way.

[She reminds him of Aslan for reasons he can't quite place yet.]

I am Peter, High King of Narnia. It's good to meet you, Amaterasu. [With his accent, he probably mangled pronouncing her name.]

[It's of no consequence that her name was butchered; she has heard many strange accents in this place, it is not unheard of. She is definitely not bothered by it in the least.

NARNIA? THIS IS A LAND I HAVE NOT HEARD OF. DO ANIMALS SPEAK IN YOUR WORLD, KING PETER?]

[Peter looks flustered.] I'm fairly certain one of would have remembered such a thing!

[An awkward pause.] I take it you're not Prince Caspian?

[emptynight]

[Thomas just laughs, in a voice like honey and opium, heady and inviting.]

My father's an ass of a king, but I'm no prince, sweetheart. Call me Thomas.
