[He hadn't meant to tease her by being vague, he'd mostly been thinking aloud, but, well, she may need to know the gist of it. No need to complicate things further with obsolete details.]

[No matter how slight, her satisfied expression in the face of his vulnerability causes an openly hurt look to cross his features, although it vanishes quickly, leaving only a blank stare in its absence that wanders off to the side. He becomes lost in thought staring at nothing in particular.]

[She quiets down when he does, too, almost frowning. So she reaches up, cups a hand to his face to turn him back, not an ounce over human strength being used. She can, at least, manage that.]

[He gives in to her touch, craving it in spite of himself, yet he won't meet her gaze. She misunderstood, and he'll be damned if he attempts to correct her.]

It wouldn't have been good, Bella. I wouldn't have been in the right frame of mind to...properly appreciate the demotion. [You know, because he considers it his job to protect her.]

But never mind that now. There's no use in dwelling on a future that will never come to pass. [Gives a wry chuckle. Such an ironic thing for him, of all people, to say, and he knows it.]

There are far more important things to address now. [Finally looks up into her eyes, emotion flooding back into them as he brings a hand up to hold the one against his face.]

[Her lips twist into a vaguely disapproving smirk, brows pinching ever so slightly. She wouldn't really go as far as to call it a 'demotion', but ... Well. The mun just thinks it would be a neat idea to have the rolls semi-reversed. But then, a completely up-to-date timeline would be equally as good. Honestly, Bella would be happy just as long as he was there with her.]

You can .. stay. With me. [Or, you know.] Come with me.

[Because yes, yes a thousand times yes, she wants him there with her. In any shape or form (preferably one that knows her, at the very least). They may be each other's weakness- but they're each other's strength as well.]

Bella if you don't agree to come and be there with me I'll die of a broken heart.

And yet, she doesn't dare wish her family there in the first place; not to something as terrible as it seems. Sure, people can have a life there, but ... She has a life. She doesn't want some messed up, Canadian Horror Story.]

[She may be less than a year old, but she understands the situation, showing Bella memories of them together, the whole family laughing, smiling, playing games and music; Nessie wants that, to stay with Momma and everyone. But she knows they have to say goodbye sometimes. Flashes of the snow-covered clearing, of Jacob's fur clutched in her hands as Bella tells him to take care of her... The memories stop abruptly. That wasn't a goodbye, not really. So it would be okay this time too, wouldn't it?

She smiles, to show Momma that she thinks so.]

[It always makes her warm, smile despite herself, to see and feel what Renesmee wants to share. And every warm memory, every hug and kiss and smile and laugh... Every almost goodbye that came when Aro and his soldiers came to kill. It wasn't hard for Bella to understand.]

I know, sweetie. I won't say goodbye. We won't have to. It'll just be for a little while. [If it even came to that.]
