Much time has passed since I left the world of the living. How are you able to summon me back?

(He hasn't drawn a weapon to defend himself (mainly because his swords are now in the hands of his sons). Yet he also seems to be feeling the situation out before he acts.)

I have no desire to be amongst the living. My time was spent well and I have no regrets about my death. I imagine that is hard for one as young as you to understand.

[ Normally she wouldn't have taken that hand so readily but she wants to know more about this person. Without hesitation: ]

To me? (He smiles faintly.) Does he protect you? (There's no mistaking the pride in his voice.)

[ To the first bit, she shakes her head. ]

I think I know! You look the same..

[ Is it alright to talk about this? Her silence gives her away; she's thinking. Finally, there's a slow nod. She's hesitant now but she'll be chatting his ear off after getting confirmation of who he is. ]

[ Oh, she notices! At least she does when hops up on her tiptoes and leans off to one side to peer behind him. Some gaping might follow. What are manners? Her excitement returns rather quickly. ]

[ There's a brief noise of protest, but she doesn't move away. Hair ruffles are tolerated in exchange for good company. ]

Hello, Rin. (His expression softens.) What happened to your parents?

[ Her own expression turns somber. ]

They were killed by thieves. My brothers, too.

I'm sorry to hear that. (So Sesshomaru took her in? Huh.) You are safe with my son.

[adorns]

[ See this smile? She knows that much above all else. ]

Mm, I know I am.

[inunotaisho]

(Alright, that's it. He picks her up with one arm.)

[ Was not expecting that! Her little fingers curl into the material of his sleeve so she can steady herself. ]
