The mere thought of you attempting to "play" me in one of your games is so absurd it would make me laugh if I weren't so concerned for your mental well being. There is clearly something very wrong with your brain if you think that you had either the time or the mental capacity to come anywhere near presenting even a close facsimile to my person.

In any event it's simply out of the question. I have far too much work to do to go gallivanting about on the whim of a woman. If I wanted that I could have simply resigned myself to the miserably dim so-called institution of marriage.

[Watson tries to follow the path of Holmes' eyes; just like his own, he's dissecting him, trying to unpack who he is and where he's from and what he's done. He's never been able to completely keep up pace, but by now, he knows enough of the process to follow as best as he can.]
