vague hobbit stuff i guess.

There are many tales of Dale and Laketown. You know Bard the Bowman well, but there is bravery in even the poorest farmers in the North, for they battle harsh winters without complaint, and they fight as hard as they could against any remnants of the armies of the Shadow. I have spent much of my life amongst them, and I recall their strength with admiration.

'Tis a true pity that the scholar who penned our tales did not see fit to tell their stories.

[ A pause, his head cocked to the side, and he chuckles softly. ]

Aye, those were once my words. There is little shame in the admission of my mistake. [ Pause, then lower: ] I know their valour well, for I have been schooled by the race of Men themselves.

A pity, but a story unwritten is then ours to tell, with any amount of grandeur as we wish.

[rraaaising an eyebrow. perhaps if it were another, there would be more offense taken, if any at all. but it is aragorn, worldly as he is; it is only mild teasing.] Did you think less of us in the Wilderlands?

[is this an eyebrow raising contest, i think it is.]

You may, of course; a king will do as he wishes. But I meant rather all the Free Folk of the Wild Lands, not only the Elves within it.

[laketown dale-men be his bros too, yo.]

Aye, but perhaps there was a reason he did not. A reason we may never know.

So why don't you tell their stories?

It would do you little good to ponder as of why these stories haven't come to be. [ To him this is a endeavor not worth the energy wasted. ]

Then again, I possess very little fondness for Bard the Bowman.

i am not sorry

[Oh, Aragorn, that last part should never have been said aloud, and certainly not where Boromir can hear it.

There's a long pause before Boromir's face breaks into a grin.
]

A King of Men should not concede to any amount of ignorance.

A SUGGESTION DEAR ELESSAR

[Boromir sees that. His grin only widens, smug and knowing.]

A Steward is still only a Steward, and helpless if the King is not like to heed him. The King has the final word on these matters, after all.

[ A bitter chuckle nearly passes through the dwarf's lips as he answers the ranger's question with a hint of bitterness. Only a man who knew nothing of his tale would would be so interested in both Bard and his reply. ]

His errant claim for the treasure that lurked within the caverns were more than enough to win my ire.

I defend the Men of Laketown with actions, not words.

[but he's contemplative, if ever an elf has looked as such. eventually, he continues slowly.]

..They dance better than you do, if I might say. [can you even dance, aragorn? or do you just trod silently on peoples' toes?] But they smell about the same.

Aye, he is, but he is not without his moments. [A hint of fondness to his voice.]

[YOU GET ME, BROROMIR? HOW DOES HE EVEN SNEAK UP ON ANYONE WITH THAT STENCH.

seriously aragorn stop with the dust baths take a real bath.]
needsnoking: (have you ever seen it aragorn?)

...oh. In that case /OPENS WIDE

[personal profile] needsnoking 2012-12-14 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Boromir wants to reach out, to touch him, but his hand stops short of Aragorn's shoulder.]

That about the King is what makes him worthy of his people, and of their love.
needsnoking: (Gondor needs no king)

i'ma make you then

[HAVE A SLICE OF HUMBLE PIE ARAGORN]

For your own good, Aragorn. Legolas--[FOR ONCE]--brings up a valid point.
