You have to ask? mm. Of course you do. The pain of betrayal...of losing someone who was so dear that you gave up everything to be with them. You don't even get to confront them about the lies because they're dead now.

And taking what measure of comfort there is to be had from that little tart who had the audacity to still be alive. Who used the affection she didn't deserve to-

[she takes a sharp breath to bring herself back under control] Well. At least the agency got what they needed out of that.

[His eyes narrow because that is terribly, painfully familiar, and it makes him want to lash out. Instead he holds himself almost painfully still, jaw locked rather than breathe a word and let her know how he feels.]

What happened? [Because he can't imagine that he was ever a traitor, can't imagine how it must have fallen out for their positions to be reversed.]

[such a weary breath exits her body. The things she's turned over in her mind again and again about to be laid out once more] I'm sure I'll never know all the details. Not now. Suffice to say that you-he was less than honest. [she really wants to keep them separate so she won't be mad at him for no reason] Beguiled by a pretty face and- No that can't be all. She had to at least build the semblance of a relationship. For that kind of attachment.

And then of course the fake kidnapping and the blackmail. And yet she get's to live and he's-

[And there it is, and he can't fathom it, just shakes his head sharply.] No. No, that was you.

Indeed. With all the broken bones and scars (both physical and psychological) that comes with it. And from all I can tell I seem to be the exception and not the rule. At least from what intel I've gathered off of this "Mun" entity. [whom she doesn't trust even a little bit]

[lastrat]

[Well she'd be mad to, wouldn't she. He makes a quiet noise, like a choked off scoff. No, not Vesper. He can't believe it, that she could be - well - him. He shakes his head.]

You didn't kill her, either.

The thought did very much cross my mind. But she kept her life. More than what she deserves to be sure. [she shakes her head a little]

And how was your self control that night?

Uncomfortably tight. [A part of him still wants to wrap his hands around Yusef's throat and squeeze, but. Well.] It seems we're mirrored.

It's strange right? I'm hardly you even though we've had similar careers. [Is that comforting? Is she allowed that kind of feeling?]

[No, they aren't allowed feelings at all. B(] It's unsettling, really. Don't tell me he was an accountant.

Oh no not in a bad way! I mean, he wasn't completely unathletic. He just never spent hours running across rooftops and jumping off staircases. He didn't kill either.

Well it's all about perspective isn't it? I mean, you didn't think she was boring did you. [I detect a note of challenge in her tone.]

Yes. And interestingly enough [or not, depending on who you are] she was a Woman in my world too. That was one of my more unusual encounters. [it's the first time she's talked about it with anyone. She's turned just a little red now]
