wrt the Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Trailer
...What is with you and my shirt?
I get it, okay? You've been a fan forever, the whole idea is I'm the captain now and I should be in the gold shirt, I understand. But there are, I don't know, more pressing matters?
You saw all that, right? The running and the cliff-jumping and the explosions and the volcano and the guns and the fist-fighting and the epic stare-downs and... and Sherlock Holmes in The Adventure of What the Hell Crawled Up That Nameless Bad Guy's Ass and Died?
And you want to know where my uniform shirt is.
Unbelievable.
...Listen, while I have you here: you need to remember it's s-h-i-R-t. And s-h-i-P. Stop with the embarrassing typos. I don't want to be that guy.

Though mine's been doing the typo thing for a year and a half. [Eyeroll.]

[There will be only small amounts of pity from this Commander Shepard, sorry Captain.]

[The fact that he's not laughing at her like she's crazy earns him a lot of points.]
I was a bad girl so the Council restricted me to the Terminus Systems for a while, but I'm authorized for any region of Council controlled space normally.

I'm not familiar with the Council. I'm with the United Federation of Planets. Well--the exploratory and peacekeeping arm, anyway, Starfleet.

You'll get that a lot around here. My earth isn't like your earth and yours isn't like John Doe's either.
I'm a Spetre, stands for Special Tactics and Reconnaissance. More often than not it means I'm the one shooting and getting shot at to keep my galaxy at large safe.
[She's also the first human to ever hold this title, but she's not going to brag.]

Funny, sounds a little like my job description, some days. I'm Captain James T. Kirk of the Federation Starship Enterprise.

[Running into a different version of herself would be beyond weird.]
Maybe our departments aren't so different after all. Commander

Pleased to meet you, Commander Shepard. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow commanding officer.

Right back at you, Captain.
So tell me, you ever get tired of all the saluting and the way normal soldiers seem to forget you're human sometimes? Or is that just me.
[Sure, she's a Commander and all that, but she's still just a soldier gosh.]

Wouldn't trade my crew for anything, they're good people. Good friends. I've died for them once and I'd do it again without hesitation.
[Letting the best damn pilot in the fleet die would look bad on her record, seriously.]
It's just that sometimes it's like they forget we're still just human, same as them.
[Being the strong, confident and supporting leader is hard when the universe is going to hell all around you. Add to this a whole crew depending on you and it's just hard to keep it going somedays.]

...Sorry, did you say you died once?

Ship was going down and my stubborn ass pilot wouldn't leave. Got him out, but I wasn't as lucky. [Shepard shrugs, smiling slightly.] I got better.

I didn't know death was sonething you could get better from,

Seems like if you have enough money, you can do anything even cheat death.

Some people. Never happy with what they've got.
