Useful. And diverting, at times. However, I hardly think that they qualify as friends simply because I'm capable of spending five minutes speaking with them. It's not as though I've been given any other choice. One must do what one can to mitigate negative situations, after all.

Well the ideas aren't contradictory so it can be both.

But I suppose the better question is, what does friendship mean to you?

No I'm not a psychologist. It was more a curiosity on how you saw it, an exchange of ideas. Since the idea of friendship is a concept made by a society an individual could change their meaning of friendship to a number of things.

Hm I suppose the honest answer would be a group of people I trust enough to share the end of the world with.

In that case, I'm afraid I'm lacking in friends entirely.

But my definition is a little strict. Yours doesn't have to be and could essentially be anything you wanted it to be as long as you believed in it. Concepts and ideas have very little power when someone doesn't believe in it.
