Well, Miss Mundane, I know you want to do some re-readin' before you think of sending me anywhere, but it does get a bit lonely sitting around and waiting.

Not that I mind. I don't mind waiting really, but -- can I at least make a stew? Why, I'd love to share, even.

If not, it's no mind. But, I'd really like it if you would start reading soon. It can't take that long, right?

You said something about making and sharing stew, Sam?

...Why, that is an unfair accusation to make! I'll have you know that should you be gracious enough to share your stew with me, then I'll be gracious enough to share my pile of mushrooms with you in return for your abundant kindness.

You could try giving cooking a go yourself one day, cousin.

[it won't bite you. Sometimes it feels like Sam does all the work or at least, doubly so of it when his cousins are over]

[he was about to to interrupt, that no, really, Merry and Pippin could use some more practice at it, or they might forget it entirely if someone else always does it.... but what ends up coming out is a slightly strangled snort of laughter that he was trying to stop before it got out. He tries to cover it up with a grave look.

And even that is a struggle to keep on. His mouth is twitches with the effort not to smile]

Hm, quite right, my lad. This goes well beyond simple practice and working on a much needed skill; Hobbiton itself could be at risk.

If not by fire, then by a rash of upset stomachs.

[Merry isn't a bad cook in his opinion (he does prefer not to bother with it if Sam is around at any rate), but Frodo can't resist]

[personal profile] pipeweed 2012-12-03 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I could, but that would require a lot of preparation and really, Frodo, who has time for that?
iorhael: (drums)

[personal profile] iorhael 2012-12-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Frodo frowns just a little bit, because apparently Merry means Sam has time to take care of everyone else - with an attitude like that, Bag End's gardens may see a very early end if he is kept so busy and away from his duties.]

Sam is my gardener, and those are where his duties lie first.

Anyway, it's better you put your time into the craft than whatever trouble you might find otherwise.

When you say share, I hope you don't mean with everyone here. No one could make that much stew, sir, not to insult your cooking skills. It seems like an awful lot of work.

True. There are a lot of children here lately; they might view it as a wonderful surprise. But you'd need help in the kitchen for it. I'm not a fantastic cook, but I'd be willing to do my best to help. It's good to share random acts of kindness.

Is it safe for me to believe that your "second lunch" is due?

[ He says this with a slight smirk. ]

I should be saying that to you! <3

[personal profile] thelastking 2012-12-02 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Aragorn honestly couldn't help but chuckle once he thought of the duo. Meriadoc Brandybuck and his partner in crime, Peregrin Took were a constant thorn at his side during the beginning of their quest. Never had he met two beings who could clearly eat an entire kingdom out of house and home as easily as those two can.

Just thinking of them makes the ranger shake his head in disbelief. ]

Then I'm most grateful that you don't share their appetite, Sam.

<3 I give this heart to you

No need to become so flustered, Master Hobbit.

Forgive me for being so curious, but what might this stew be that you might make?
iorhael: (drinking)

[personal profile] iorhael 2012-12-02 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
No, not long at all, with the proper story and especially if it is an engrossing one. One may find that there isn't enough time in that case.

Though you might distract her with one of your stews; she may become much more interested in that (and seconds) once she has had a bite!

Now. Which one were you planning on making?

[It's a very important question, of course. Though he has to hide his spreading grin some, he saw what you had to say (some of it a bit cheeky) to his cousin above, and with good reason.]

[personal profile] iorhael 2012-12-02 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It might be a good idea.

But then again.... [he's trailed off thoughtfully] an empty stomach may prove distracting as well, just as much as a stomach that is too full might prompt an unexpected nap.

[he breaks out into a smile himself, if one that is a touch sheepish. Not that Frodo did much to hide his interest in the stew. Sam, he thinks, is almost as good a cook as Bilbo]

I would certainly like some if there is any left. Your potato stew, Master Samwise, is rivaled by none in the Shire.
