Well, Miss Mundane, I know you want to do some re-readin' before you think of sending me anywhere, but it does get a bit lonely sitting around and waiting.

Not that I mind. I don't mind waiting really, but -- can I at least make a stew? Why, I'd love to share, even.

If not, it's no mind. But, I'd really like it if you would start reading soon. It can't take that long, right?

Well yes, with Miss Mundane. There's no sharing with you, Merry. You'll eat it all up and there won't be any left for me!

...Why, that is an unfair accusation to make! I'll have you know that should you be gracious enough to share your stew with me, then I'll be gracious enough to share my pile of mushrooms with you in return for your abundant kindness.

It isn't unfair! I have to have enough left for Mr. Frodo, too, after all. [ There may be a Samwise pout. If you squint. ] But I suppose I can share with you at least a little bit. A good hobbit has to eat, after all.

When you say share, I hope you don't mean with everyone here. No one could make that much stew, sir, not to insult your cooking skills. It seems like an awful lot of work.

And a good hobbit has to share as well! [ because really, can't emphasize that enough. ] And Frodo? You'll be leaving some for Frodo? Frodo isn't even here yet!

Not always! Naughty hobbits don't deserve the kindness of some good hobbits! But I'll share, because -- well, Mr. Frodo will be hungry when he arrives now, won't he? I beggon your pardon, but I'd do the same for you, Merry.

Well I reckon I could share with as many people as I can though. My cookin' isn't that great, but I like to do it.

True. There are a lot of children here lately; they might view it as a wonderful surprise. But you'd need help in the kitchen for it. I'm not a fantastic cook, but I'd be willing to do my best to help. It's good to share random acts of kindness.

[ Aragorn honestly couldn't help but chuckle once he thought of the duo. Meriadoc Brandybuck and his partner in crime, Peregrin Took were a constant thorn at his side during the beginning of their quest. Never had he met two beings who could clearly eat an entire kingdom out of house and home as easily as those two can.

Just thinking of them makes the ranger shake his head in disbelief. ]

Then I'm most grateful that you don't share their appetite, Sam.

My family is Irish, so those are the recipes I know, but I always love learning new things. If you're willing to teach me to make Hobbiton food, I'm willing to learn, sir.

Oh, I do, but I know when it's best I think. A hobbit can never go without a good meal, Mr. Aragorn, sir. I'd reckon that would be just insane, I'd say.

Quite insane, indeed. No hobbit would ever allow themselves to go without a proper meal under normal circumstances.

I feel somewhat guilty for forcing you and the others to endure such cruelties.

Oh, it weren't your fault at all, oh no. I would do anything to help Mr. Frodo -- even if it meant giving all of my meals to him. I would do the same for you, of course. I miss gardening, though, the most I think. Nothing better than fresh herbs, I think.

[ While honestly doesn't know much about the hobbits' lives prior to the Fellowship, Aragorn does remember hearing about Sam's fondness for gardening. ]

No, not long at all, with the proper story and especially if it is an engrossing one. One may find that there isn't enough time in that case.

Though you might distract her with one of your stews; she may become much more interested in that (and seconds) once she has had a bite!

Now. Which one were you planning on making?

[It's a very important question, of course. Though he has to hide his spreading grin some, he saw what you had to say (some of it a bit cheeky) to his cousin above, and with good reason.]

Oh, only a small patch. Nothing too exciting, but I liked it well enough, I did. I always liked it well, I did. Making onions and potatoes, you see.
