[ he winces, offering a slightly hesitant smile. he knows he doesn't much look like her brother anymore-- and he knows how cold he is to the touch. ]

Yeah, it's me. I'm sorry I left you, Jennie. You know I didn't want to, right?

[icescotch]

[she reaches out a hand to him.]

H-how?

[fernfrost]

[ he draws back, biting his lip. ]

I'm cold to touch, Jennie. I'm not-- I'm not really.. I mean, I'm kind of a spirit, now, I guess.

Guess your mun thought it was cute...

[Sure doesn't look like Jack agrees.]

[yeah, Jennie doesn't agree either.]

I think it's supposed to be like hopscotch, only with 'ice' instead of 'hop'.

[she stares at him; he looks familiar, but she doesn't know where she's seen him before.]

[He's not making it so easy to see his face, and he's finding it hard to look her in the eyes.]

If that's supposed to be a joke, it's a pretty lame one.

[she nods in agreement.]

[Jack nods, silently, then looks up, so she can really see him. He still can't make eye contact with her, though.]

[He chuckles and tilts his head to the side.]

Oh, he's around still. [Much to his dismay.]

Muns can have some pretty weird ideas about what's funny, huh.

Well, forget about them. [He wants to tell her she's safe now, but... who knows what her mun wants to do with her.] Just for now.

[He crouches down so they're more at eye-level with each other, grinning a grin that's trying very hard not to be sad.]

This place is pretty cool, actually. There can be pretty much whatever we want here. [Or you know, whatever the muns describe. But same thing, right?] It's not so bad, being here.

Sometimes people have different views on what they think is a joke, it's not always funny to everyone.

[As much as he hates to admit it in this situation, he's kind of guilty of doing not so nice jokes on people as well so he can't judge. But even this is a bit much.]

If it makes you feel any better, you could just see it as making light of a bad situation.
