[she stares at the boy, this boy who looks so much like her brother. But his hair is wrong, and his eyes. His clothes are different. And his skin is much too pale. And yet...]

[ he winces, offering a slightly hesitant smile. he knows he doesn't much look like her brother anymore-- and he knows how cold he is to the touch. ]

Yeah, it's me. I'm sorry I left you, Jennie. You know I didn't want to, right?

[icescotch]

[she reaches out a hand to him.]

H-how?

[fernfrost]

[ he draws back, biting his lip. ]

I'm cold to touch, Jennie. I'm not-- I'm not really.. I mean, I'm kind of a spirit, now, I guess.

[icescotch]

A spirit? [reluctantly she pulls her hand back.] What kind of spirit?

Guess your mun thought it was cute...

[Sure doesn't look like Jack agrees.]

[yeah, Jennie doesn't agree either.]

I think it's supposed to be like hopscotch, only with 'ice' instead of 'hop'.

[she stares at him; he looks familiar, but she doesn't know where she's seen him before.]

[He's not making it so easy to see his face, and he's finding it hard to look her in the eyes.]

If that's supposed to be a joke, it's a pretty lame one.

[she nods in agreement.]

It's not funny at all.

[Jack nods, silently, then looks up, so she can really see him. He still can't make eye contact with her, though.]

[Jennie looks at him, then her eyes go wide.]


...Jack? Is- is that really you?

Y-Yeah. It's me.

[He finally tries to look her in the eyes, and finds himself tearing up.]

It's been a really long time.

[icescotch]

[she stares at him, taking in the white hair, the blue eyes, the too-pale skin.]

What happened to you?

...oh. Oh dear.

Who are you?

I'm the Tooth Fairy, dear.

[icescotch]

Really? You're the Tooth Fairy?

[memorycollector]

Yes.

[She flutters close so she can get a good look at her teeth, though she doesn't going poking around just yet.]

Ah, they're lovely too. I had a feeling they would be.

[icescotch]

[Jennie giggles, beaming with pride.]

I try hard.

[memorycollector]

I'm sure you do! I take very good care of them once you lose them, too.

[icescotch]

You do? Good. [even though she won't need them anymore, Jennie still feels a bit of attachment to the baby teeth she's already lost.]

[memorycollector]

Yes, of course. My fairies and I take the best care of all the baby teeth once they're lost.

[icescotch]

What do you do with them?
