How troublesome.
Everything ended before I had the chance to solve the mystery...
No matter, it really was less of a case and more aptly described as simple child's play; it did not follow logic as I knew it, for it was a world where spirits, true shapeshifters, and magic existed. It was a case Avril Bradley would have been able to solve all on her own; therefore, it would be insulting to call it a case at all, rather than a strange compilation of ghost stories come to life.
I must admit that partially sealing away our memories was a clever trick. Well-played, uncouth hag... even if I cannot forgive that witch for robbing me of so many precious memories! And on top of it all, she had the gall to take away my pipe too!
If I ever see her hideous, bloated head again, I swear I'll stretch that wrinkled skin halfway across the world, I will...! And kick, and scratch, and bite until she deflates like a terrifying balloon that no child would ever play with!
Hmph!
[And after that childish outburst, she goes quiet again.
For all her anger and grudging satisfaction over her half-cheated victory, celebrated by smoking her pipe for the first time in quite a while, she does miss those she met there: Emi-chan, Sensei, Miyuki, and she even misses the pompous strutting of that blue-feathered peacock.
She can't help adding, later, in a much more subdued tone:]
Was it all meaningless? Fated to be forgotten, like a dream?

Even dreams have meaning - whether you remember them or not.
[1/?]
[2/3]
That's a genuine, non-sarcastic smile. Savour it.]
[3/3]
Yes, perhaps that's true. A life without dreams is forever in a shallow stasis.
But, I think it's best to remember. It creates an environment that encourages growth.
[Because she feels proper re-introductions necessary after that mess.] Victorique de Blois. A pleasure.

Well, sure it is. But even if you're missing something up here- [ tap tap tap on the side of his head ] It's not like they can take it out of here. [ And he thumps the side of a fist against his chest. Over his heart, naturally.
Before offering her the same hand. ] Zack Fair. Nice to meet you, too. Again.

[She smirks and takes the hand offered to her.]
You're supposed to wait for a lady to extend her hand, you know, not the other way around, so she might decide whether or not she wants any physical contact with you. [... still gripping his hand while saying that. Way to be confusing, Victorique!
Can you be tsundere while shaking hands? Seems like she's innovated a way to be!]no subject
[ Which he says a little teasingly - even if he means it. This whole being from completely clashing eras bit is one he keeps on forgetting about. ]
I guess the girls must all be pretty picky, where you're from. [ Not that he doesn't see his fair share of far crueler rejection. Life is pain, and all that. ]

Of course, ladies of refined tastes are. [And now, she'll resume smoking her pipe. It would be quite hypocritical of her to have qualms against his lightly teasing tone when she does more than her own fair share of teasing!]

[ Or is there a rule against that, too!? ]
I've never been much of a Mr. Anything.
no subject
... which it just did, judging by the little giggle she tries to hide!]
You'll have to forgive me, then, Zack! I just felt like trying it out. As I expected, it didn't really fit.
What have you been up to, I wonder?
no subject
He'll let that one slide by with only a passingly skeptical look, though, since there's apparently more important things to discuss. ]
Me? [ Well. Let's see... Outer space, destroyed worlds, paper-pushing pig-faced aliens, volcanoes, girlfriends, giant pumpkins- ] Just more of the usual.
How about you? Still on break?

It seems my Mundane is expecting something; she says it's something good, but I don't trust her one bit.

[Yaaaaawn~
The gift is a reunion with her mother. THIS MUSE ALWAYS ASSUMES THE WORST. ;O;]
