On conflicting muses and Spinoff viability.
{{Canon is technically Darths&Droids. I really hope I tagged this properly.}}
You are already somewhat uncomfortable with the fact that playing me, Ben, as I am is almost Real Person roleplaying, and having another 'Obi Wan' in your head is frustrating as well. (Though I confess I wish I had been able to see these 'Star Wars' movies; they sound rather interesting.)
Nonetheless, you are a moderately experienced tabletop campaigner, and I know that you have taken some of my advice and examples to heart, so I don't... mind, so much, that you also have a 'proper' Obi-Wan muse.
Perhaps, you should consider running us on different 'character sheets'? Or journals or whatever you call this. It may be easier to keep us straight, though I can understand the desire to try and keep it to one, especially since the probability of getting into an actual game community as my self is rather slim. (More so than a fumble in the middle of an important battle, though Jim showed us well enough it's quite posible.)
Also, I do appreciate the fact you tend to take me from before the Doctor debacle, there are still a lot of sore emotions about that.

I take it you a from the Star Wars canon proper?
[ Mun can be heard in the background muttering good-naturedly about bloody extended canon and trying to keep track of it all ]
Oh, hush, it's no different the many extension packs available nowadays for more traditional rp experiences, is it?
no subject
You're playing a future Jedi from my perspective, I think.
no subject
[ Don't be fooled, Ben has quite the affection for his game-mates. Even Pete. ]
I wonder what your story is...
no subject
Very long, and probably not the kind of thing that actually makes it into the holocrons. I'm the kind of woman who ends up in the footnotes after the full paragraphs about flashier people.
[She hopes, anyway.]
no subject
He rifles through the pages a few moments, before an 'aha' expression shows up briefly on his face and he tucks the notebook away. ]
Knowing my GM, you are the sort of person he'll have the most detail about. My mun likes that about him.
[ There's a muttering that can vaguely be made out as 'all the better to inflict revenge on us with.' Ben's going to try slide a bit more smoothly into character. ]
Besides, those are usually the people you scour through the Archives trying to find scraps of long-lost information about.
[ Along with lost planets, of course. ]
no subject
Maybe.
Well, how much did your, uh, "GM" reveal about the Mandalorians, or the Sith?
no subject
He turns back to Meetra ]
Nothing I can remember, though it is entirely possible he rambled on about it and I wasn't paying attention.
[ Or, it appeared during some time when 'Obi-Wan' wouldn't have heard it, but that leaves him in the same boat anyways. ]
I am always open to learning, though.
[ Come, teach the
no longerpadawan. ]no subject
A long time ago, in the galaxy where we live, a culture of fanatical warriors called the Mandalorians decided to wage war on the Republic, devastating or outright destroying many worlds in a matter of months. Our Jedi Order refused to move in the Republic's defense, afraid of throwing people as...vulnerable to violent emotions as Jedi into an all-out war.
One knight, called Revan, saw it differently, that it was the Jedi's duty to fight to protect the innocent, and brought a group of us like-minded young Jedi along to join up with the Republic military. With me so far?
no subject
I believe so, go on.
[ Not that her story doesn't make sense, but rather... clearly, his 'Star Wars' universe is different than this one.
Or, at least, they had made it that way.]no subject
War is awful. I'll spare the details, but the battles we fought in were more like slaughterhouses in exotic environments. Reven - all of us, really - we grew more determined. More willing to sacrifice and kill simply for the sake of victory. We said we were protecting people, but the effect it had on us was...profound.
Didn't help that Revan was screwing around with Sith artifacts on the side, either, but I'll get to that later.
The last battle of the war was complete armageddon, an all-out battle between us and the Mandalorians practically trapped with each other in orbit around an uninhabitable planet. We had a superweapon that would wipe out their fleet, and my detachment of our fleet. I gave the order to use it.
Aside from wreaking havoc on the planet itself, between both sides, Mandalorian and Republic/Jedi, tens of thousands who were caught in the Mass Shadow Generator, I can count the survivors of it on one hand.

I... am familiar with such aspects of war.
[ It kind of came part-and-parcel with being on a capaign with Jim. Ended up being quite like that in this particular game as well, now that he thinks about it. As far as WMD's, however... ]
So, something like the Naboo Peace Moon...
[ Still? Even before they came about, someone had already taken a shine to the idea, it seems.
Blowing up planets seems to be a thing, he's beginning to realize. ]
I take it you are not proud of that decision.
no subject
--wait, "Peace Moon"? Seriously?
I feel like I should mention this is literally the best star wars rp convo I've had, ever.
[ He shrugs, trying for casual, though there is still a tenseness to his figure. Even if it is a 'fictional' world, it had been theirs, damn it all, and that the GM's bad guys destroyed it... ]
Massively large space station. Obliterated a planet. Naboo, ironically.
But yes, continue.

At any rate, I was the only Jedi who returned to the Order, at which point they pretty understandably kicked me out. In the mean time, though, Revan...
[She takes a deep breath, considering things.]
I have no idea whether Revan went completely off the deep end or simply foresaw a threat to the galaxy that required a monster to fight it. At any rate, Revan came back to Republic space years later at the head of a conquering army, cutting apart the very civilization we swore to protect at any cost in the interest of taking it over.
And after that, things just got...extremely convoluted.
no subject
[ Veteran gamer pragmatism right there. Obi-Wan must seem a rather strange Jedi at the moment. ]
It doesn't seem a sound plan of action.
[ Convoluted? Ben thrives in convoluted. ]
What else was at work?
[ Ben may or may not be taking some serious mental notes. This has the potential for a great campaign. ]
no subject
[She pauses and takes another deep breath.]
Well, I wasn't there for the next part, but from what I hear Revan was deposed by Malak, captured by the Jedi, turned back to the Light, and then went and dismantled the "Empire" they'd started together and killed Malak, saving the galaxy from...well, Revan, more or less.
Then Revan disappeared, and what was left of the Sith, led by three very damaged individuals, started assassinating Jedi left and right. One of them, Darth Nihilus, wiped out most of the Order in one fell swoop, and scattered the rest. That's about when I was called back out of exile.
no subject
So, now you are... trying to understand the purpose of the war, and track down the Sith Lords?
[ Sounds like quite the busy life. ]
And I thought my life had been difficult.
no subject
And no, I killed all three of them. As much as I felt sorry for all of them, in their own way, death is what they were looking for, in the end.
It's the true reason behind all of this happening that I'm looking for now, and I think Revan knows.
So does my mun, of course, but he's not telling. I don't think he's happy with it, somehow...
no subject
Eventually, no matter how much we enjoy them, we desire our stories to come to an end, I believe.
I wish I could help you in that regard, but I don't believe such events transpired in my world, thus would be unable to find out what. I'm sure your friend will tell you when he's ready. Or at least when it is most narratively convenient.
I can't help you with the mun issue, of course. There have been times I, Ben, have withheld information for the sake of narrative plausibility with 'Obi-Wan'. Even if not, my mun never tells me anything either. Though, from her other muses, I am not alone in that regard.
I suppose it would depend on what level you are thinking of it.
no subject
We're on the verge of this happening.
Sorry for being late
Perhaps you are right. Too much meta can be detrimental.
Still, I wish you the best of luck on your quest...
And for your friend?
Though I've never heard of a Jedi coming back from the dark side before...
Yeah that's not really a problem for me...ever...
My mun seems convinced the "Atonement" resets your level to 1, though...whatever that means.
Quite xD
GD Cecil having to be a Paladin. Plus losing all that expensive equipment...]I... may have some understanding of that concept.
[ Ben can think of some painful class-changes mid-campaign... ]
Still, your friend must be very remarkable. It isn't easy to undergo an alignment reset. Especially from an 'evil' one to a 'good' one.
I imagine there is some lingering ill will in his direction.
