[Yeah, he's heard speeches like that a lot. And Bush simply being there makes him feel the urge to be flippant. Bush does this. Archie does not like to feel vulnerable in front of Bush.]

He's not natively imaginative enough to spend much time pondering such things; he concerns himself with the practical, and then bulls ahead. But his friends seem to tend to be both more intellectual and more sensitive than he.]

[He's always been pretty sure suicide = dirty cowardice in Bush's eyes and everyone else's. Kennedy's eyes flicker down briefly as if avoiding, then he takes a deep breath to speak.]

Ambition has little to do with it. Death's not permanent where I am, anyway, and that's something of what this plot relies on.
