Why, what is wrong with where you stay?

My mun's not ready to play me at places yet. She said something about an 'AU'.

This Tower is full of those. [ignoring the fact that he met himself the other day. WEIRD.] For your sake, I hope she takes you somewhere else.

She's not sure what to do with me yet. She's thinking about sending someone to that tower.

Here's hoping she changes her mind. It's...not a good place, Ven.

It may not be a good place, but with friends, things can get better.

[ aqua can't help it. she has to look up at him right away, and she has to face him with an open mouth and surprised -- if not even more worried -- eyes. was there something horrible that happened to them? is that the reason why he's acting the way he is now, saying what he is now?

she can't ask that question. she also can't just let it go with nothing more. ]

[they grew up together, he knows That Tone. he tries to think of some rebuttle, anything, but he gestures at nothing since he can think of nothing to say, and his arms settle back by his sides in defeat.

then, quietly:]

[though a part of him doesn't mean it, and he knows it. feeling a bit guilty for that. also kicking himself for not being able to say 'thank you' or 'likewise' or something. C'MON SELF]

so he's standing there so awkwardly and uncomfortable. he wants to be happy to see her, but they're talking about awful things. he finds his resolve to be stubborn again with that last line, frowning:]

[Suddenly, a second Terra! But this one's hair is longer, his shoulder pauldron in poor shape, and in place of his normal clothing, there's a black coat.

With his hood down, it's kind of clear that his heart is in poor condition. But it's all him, which is what matters.] ... I would rather be alone than see you or Ven caught up in the tower's sick games.

[He knows. He's a mess on his own.]

[ "a little late... for either of us..." the words catch her before anything else, if not because of what they are, then because of the voice and how much she so disagrees with them. she turns around to face their speaker quickly, surprised to see--

well, really, what else could she've been expecting? another terra. her eyes flit over the changes in "him", and she frowns. grips a shaking fist at her side. they're obvious. all too blindingly obvious. so: ]

--Fight it! [ is all she says. ] Terra, you've got to fight it! Please tell me you've been trying to fight it!

[He blinks, and then lowers his head, gaze going to the ground. His shoulders appear to be shaking, but after a few seconds, it's clear that it's not from trying to fight anything.

He's laughing. Quietly, but he's definitely laughing. When he looks back up, he's definitely smiling -- and are those tears forming?] It's good to see you too, Aqua.

[He's sobering up a little, if the more solemn expression that's replacing the relieved/happy/amused smile is anything to go by.] There's only so much I can do when I don't know enough about the ones in charge, or the world the tower is located in.

[He's more focused on the little things; helping people when they need it, keeping moral up, and (hopefully) training those that need to be trained.]

It's not that I don't understand how ya feel. Some of these games can be really horrible to the people in it, I know that much.

But if ya gave Aqua or Ven a choice between stayin' away from a friend who was hurtin' and prioritize their own safety, or joinin' that friend in the hope they could lessen that pain, whadda ya think they'd say?
