A Prayer for Civil Authority

Gracious and Beloved God, Creator of the Universe, Who spread the stars of the Heavens and the Flowers of the Earth with the same attentive Care with which You crafted every Human Heart, look with Mercy on those who rule over us in positions of Civil Authority and Worldly Responsibility. Grant to our President and his Administration the Grace to Seek Justice, Give Mercy, and Walk Humbly aware of the Hope that has been granted him by those who voted for him and the Trust yielded him by those who did not, that this election might lead to a Better World. Inspire our Congressmen and Congresswomen with the Courage to make laws for the good of all rather than the few, so that they might not Abandon the Weak because of the Power of the Strong nor cast aside the Poor because of the Anger of the Rich. Give our Judges your Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding that they may Discern the Truth set before them and Administer the Law according to both Intention and Evidence, to Reduce Suffering and End Injustice. And Move within all the People who take part in our Government, in big and small ways, so that regardless of the Outcomes of our Elections we can Strive to make a Heaven of our world, for our Children and all the Children yet to be. In Your holy name, in Your goodness, and for the sake of all things that are Good, regardless of which name they claim, we lift up this Prayer for the Forgiveness of Sins, the Redemption of Souls, and the Salvation of the World. Amen
