I realize you're struggling with this. Balancing university and family disasters, all while attempting a move to Dreamwidth. It's a lot for anyone to handle. But then, change never has been your strong suit.
You're feeling inadequate, perhaps lost. I'm right, aren't I? You're wanting to make new friends, find more familiar faces for me to interact with, possibly even hoping to find a game I'll last longer than a month in. Yet you're so afraid of being rejected, you're hardly making a real effort. I can point you in the proper direction, but you can't expect me to do all the work. You do understand we function as a unit?
You should listen to that professor of yours. The one I heard saying he enjoys making you blush. If you allow the fear of being hurt to prevent you from seeking what you're looking for, you'll certainly never find it. It isn't always such a terrible thing to be vulnerable. Sometimes, it's worth the risk.
You've always trusted me, in the past. I hope you'll trust me in this, as well.
With my love,
Helen

Doing this because I love Sanctuary and Helen Magnus and, heck, she probably knew Groucho :P
And your face isn't familiar, but I sure wish it was. In fact, I wish I could see it every day. The rest of you is worth a daily viewing, too. You could be in a museum, preferably holding an urn. That makes it art.
Speaking of making art, let's go out on a date. [Note the huge grin. He'll even remove the cigar for the rest of this monologue] I highly recommend this risk. The most you'll lose on me is your shirt, which would cause quite a stir. So you're probably in the black there. Only not much.
But at any rate, don't you know that I love you? It's as plain as day. And nowhere near as dull as a day on a plain. Or even an hour on a plane, though you don't get the peanuts.
She probably did. Sadly, I don't. But I can learn. Maybe. :)
[Have a smirk as she tilts her head up and slightly to the side.] And I don't believe you could handle me.
Always pleased to introduce someone new to Marx Brother comedic genius :P
Probably couldn't, but it never hurts to dream and aim high.
And you'll have to forgive me. Most of the women I deal with have more money than brains. Which would still be true if they only had a nickel.
And it's always lovely to find someone who has heard of Sanctuary!
Heard of, loved, contemplating playing Tesla :P
[He winks. He's not a fool, really, he just plays one very well.]
Oh, call it a guess. Or maybe I'm just a good judge of character. Or just a fella who knows the difference between smart people and people who let their wallets try to do the talking.
Haha...I play him, too. But I'd totally enable because Helen would love having a Nikola.

It's in the eyes. You don't look enough like a stunned shark.

Y'know, the look and the intelligence part? Very familiar. The accent is kinda new, though. But hey, you're looking to make friends - that's also new. Most of the people I meet?
Shoot at me. It's kinda unfriendly, y'know?
[He extends a hand]
Jack O'Neill.

That sounds rather familiar, as well. One makes a great deal of enemies in my line of work.
[Smiling, she takes the offered hand, shaking firmly]
Helen Magnus.

[He likes that name, he really does.]
There's always enemies, aren't there? Never listen to reason, either. But, you'll forgive the presumption, you look like you know what you're doing.

Well, one does one's best. Just...serious resemblance thing going on here.
[He thinks for a second, suppressing a smile]
Kinda a good thing. Just a bit.

[He paused a moment]
Also blonde, but that's about the only visible difference.
Kinda cool.
