Is anyone truly evil? I prefer to think that I reside heavily in the grey area that most people do. I can't deny though I wouldn't be willing to do what I needed to do to achieve my ends. That's how you survive for five hundred years.

Yeah. I've been there. Sorta. Last place I was staying had a massive Cainite population. It ended in air strikes and explosions.

So what exactly is a Cainite? Is that something biblical? I admit that my old testament studies have fallen by the wayside for quite some time.

Oh, Cainite is the word we use for vampire in my world. See, according to Noddism--that's our religion--the first vampire was Caine. As in, Cainte and dot dot dot.

Sickness had plagued are village and my father -- he was a missionary -- begged this man in the village to save us. It was all kind of a blur but my mom and I got away and went to Europe to start a new life.

So vampirism sorta runs in the family? Mine too. Although, not quite as noble as avoiding sickness....

I guess you could say that. I don't really think it's noble. I mean, plague hits, you have someone who doesn't want you to die and then he ends up being your first meal as the undead.

How does yours work out? Do you have other family members who are vampires as well?

My two sisters are both Cainites. Our father was too but...

And fortunately, I've got a nice-sized collection of vampires who don't suck--no pun intended--as a new family.

Okay, so the male vampires in Bete Noire are a total United Nations of Losers:

-The English Punk
-The Irish Serial Killer
-The Viking Megalomaniac
-The Italian Sociopath

And...well...Conrad, but he kinda defies description.

Anyway, I figured the girls needed a special place, away from them, you know? So I bought a house and how most of the female vampire population lives there.

Sounds like an interesting list. A group of terrors, huh? Well, that's where you've gotta exert who exactly is in charge when it comes to you and them. Females are superior in any species after all.
