This is amazing! I never knew there were so many seas beyond the kingdom. I mean, I read about reefs and waterfalls and rivers but...nothing ever this big. And now that The Wall is gone...I can finally see what I've been missing all these years!

Well, it's certainly....

[Max, who'd been sniffing Melody over, notes her scent's similarity to Eric's and Ariel's and puts two and two together. He gives a happy bark and jumps at Melody, licking her face.]

M-Max! Can't you give a little more warning before you do that!?

[ Melody goes down like a tuna fish clipped by a flounder. She laughs as Max starts giving her attention, putting her hands on both sides of his jaw. She digs her thin fingers through his long, thick fur, to to Max's floppy ears and scratches in that one spot that Max loves. ]

It's okay! I'm used to him bowling me over.

[Max starts panting and wagging his tail hard, happy at Melody scratching him.]

Ha...right, I guess you would be.

[This is still pretty weird for him. His Mun told him that he and Ariel had a daughter in the future already, but to actually meet her on this community was something he wasn't expecting.]

Father liked to sail before The Wall was erected. Maybe we could all go on an outing together. So then I wouldn't be far and you could show me the sea.

The ocean is pretty huge, but personally, I've always been curious about the land.

[ she does look young, so maybe this is her mother before she becomes Melody's mother. ]

Oh. I guess that just hasn't happened, for me, yet. [Well, she notes the fin, Melody looks a lot like her, though obviously her hair colour is different, the same dark black as Eric's.]

But, it's nice to meet you. How many can say they get to meet their daughter early like this!

Not many! [ she giggles. ] Wow, Mother, you look...like you do back home.

Exactly! I do? Well, I'd hope I'd at least look a little older by then. I'd guess you take after your daddy with that hair.

[The rest of her though, definitely takes after Ariel.]

A lot of people say that I am the perfect mix of both you and Dad. We all share a love for the sea.

Well, I guess that would make sense. [Given Ariel grew up in the sea, and assuming this dad is Eric, he was often sailing and all.] I'm glad you love the sea too, Melody.

Thanks, Mom. For a while, you kept me away from the sea. I was mad at you because I thought you were denying me something wonderful, but...you were just trying to protect me.

I kept you away? I'm not sure why I would, how would you see Daddy and my sisters then?

[She guesses there is probably good reason, but she's not sure what Melody needs protecting from.]

I never really...met Grandfather or my Aunts...until recently. There was this evil witch who told you and Dad that she would come to take me away from you. So you...built a wall around the palace so that she couldn't find me.

Oh...I guess that might explain why we were worried about you then. But I guess things worked out if you met Daddy in the end?

Only because I disobeyed you and Dad and got into a heap of trouble. But...everything's okay now. I just...wish it'd all happened some other way.

Yeah, that sounds familiar. [Disobeying Daddy, she definitely can relate there. Clearly Melody inherited her mother's disobediance.]
