I'm not quite sure if I can see where you're going with this. There's hardly any information about me at all and in case you haven't noticed I'm dead. And not in the 'I'm-going-to-magically-appear-from-underneath-the-floorboards' kind of dead. I was cut in half. There's no coming back from that or are you just choosing to ignore that fact?

That bastard.]
Peter. [Laura snarls, pointlessly baring her teeth at her uncle.]
You're still not anything to write home about now either. [She says, barely hiding the venom in her voice.
Yup. There's some serious resentment going on here.]

I am sorry, Laura. I wasn't well when I killed you. But what does it matter if I'm sorry or not? I did it. The end.

[Either she was pulling what their uncle had done to poor Lydia Martin, or someone was definitely being evil here in other ways, because what the hell.
Derek's mostly a gaping fish out of water, trying to process, trying to decide if he should speak, ignore her, or attack her because this was a trick right?]
...Laura...

Yeah, Derek. It's me. [She says quietly, wrapping her arms around her middle as she stares at her brother.
He looks like he's grown up a lot or maybe he just seems more grown up because there are dark circles underneath his eyes, probably from unnecessary stress and guilt.]
It's not a cruel trick and-- [She cuts herself off and takes a couple of steps towards him.] It's me, Derek. Really. I'm back. [How? IDEFK. Her mun couldn't think of a clever idea. /Sob]

It's pure instinct that he steps back and winces.] You can't. [Clever idea or not, she was severed in TWO. Two halves of her whole self-- do people even come back from that? There's a reason why the hunters do it, right?
His breath catches because she smells just like Laura does...did (see what you're doing to him? he's internally conflicted!). Derek worries his lip before stepping forward a few paces and before he knows it he's got her in a vice grip that's really a hug and nuzzling the older Hale sibling's neck.
Hey, it speaks in volumes for him, don't judge.]
no subject
I did. [She insists in a soft tone of voice.
Laura can see how difficult it is for Derek to accept the news that she's back and if she was in his shoe's then she would probably be even more skeptical than he is right now.]
I understand if you need time to thi-- [Her words fell short because one minute she was looking at Derek, trying to help ease his inner conflict and the next he had her in a vice grip.
Wrapping her arms around his middle, Laura returned the hug and blinked back a few tears. The last thing Derek needed was to see her getting sappy over their little family reunion.]
I missed you so much, Derek.

It's the last six words that does it for him, barely able to hold back the wetness in his eyes from spilling over, and doesn't trust himself to speak for a long while.
Sappy was...good, though. For once in a long time Derek didn't need to hold up so many walls. And that was incredibly exhausting.]
I missed you too, Laura. [He pulls away, but doesn't let go, to look at her. It's there in his eye, like he wants to smile but it doesn't come.]
You missed a lot...

So what you're saying is that I should look to the media for answers?

Well yeah! Maybe the forest is enchanted or something which means even though you got killed you didn't stay dead - killed or uh ... maimed... in a fairy circle or something! Or you had some kind of spell placed on just you intentionally or unintentionally to bring you back in the event that some unfortunate accident would happen. Or maybe not a spell but a talisman like the first Eko Eko Azarak movie, considering how B-movie the rest of the thing is the effects in that last part were pretty good. Or it could have been a doppleganger or changeling trying to take your place who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time so even though there was a body that looked like you it wasn't actually you. Or there's some cosmic energy known as the Phoenix that lets your treat death like a temporary setback - I'm pretty sure Marvel won't do anything as long as they don't know about it except they are owned by Disney now who are right assholes about their copyright violations, but the point still stands because it already jumped to Emma Frost because they finally got tired of Jean Gray and they had to keep it around someone who was dating Scott Summers. [Pause. ... Yeah.]

I like the idea of the forest being enchanted. It sounds like something from a fairytale and I use to love those when I was just a little girl.
[Falling silent for a moment, she takes a hand out from the pocket of her leather jacket and offers it to Stiles.] My name's Laura. Laura Hale.

I hope coming back from the dead isn't going to become a trend with you Hale's.
[ it's really awful that Kate broke the code and set your family on fire, but Beacon Hills doesn't need to be overrun with zombie werewolves. ]

So far she hasn't even thought about her murderer, but now she can feel anger beginning to stir in the pit of her stomach and she has to take a moment to prevent her eyes from glowing a distinctive shade of yellow.]
My resurrection wasn't intentional, but my death was. [A beat.] I don't know how or why I'm back, but I'm going to find out why.
