I'm not quite sure if I can see where you're going with this. There's hardly any information about me at all and in case you haven't noticed I'm dead. And not in the 'I'm-going-to-magically-appear-from-underneath-the-floorboards' kind of dead. I was cut in half. There's no coming back from that or are you just choosing to ignore that fact?

Apparently there's a novelization. It's mostly about Derek, I think, but you're probably in there more than me. I wasn't much to write home about back then, was I?

Peter. [Laura snarls, pointlessly baring her teeth at her uncle.]

You're still not anything to write home about now either. [She says, barely hiding the venom in her voice.

Yup. There's some serious resentment going on here.]

[Sup, bro?]

Yeah, Derek. It's me. [She says quietly, wrapping her arms around her middle as she stares at her brother.

He looks like he's grown up a lot or maybe he just seems more grown up because there are dark circles underneath his eyes, probably from unnecessary stress and guilt.]

It's not a cruel trick and-- [She cuts herself off and takes a couple of steps towards him.] It's me, Derek. Really. I'm back. [How? IDEFK. Her mun couldn't think of a clever idea. /Sob]

Comic books and television do it literally all the time. In fact I am pretty sure 'dead for real' is rarer than 'came back from the dead'. It's especially easy in media with magical elements to them because you can pretty much just do whatever you want as long as you make sure you don't accidentally retcon the whole thing out of existence although that's been done too.

[The corners of Laura's lips slowly tug up into a smile. She doesn't really have a clue about what the boy is referencing since she doesn't read comics and the only time that she ever watched TV was with Derek, but it's just nice to hear somebody say something positive about her unexaplainable resurrection.]

So what you're saying is that I should look to the media for answers?

You're saying managing to kill you wasn't noteworthy? Laura, I thought you had better self-esteem than that.

Is everything a joke to you?

Because you'd be totally open to a heartfelt apology, is that it? Should I have brought you flowers? Saved a busload of orphans in your name? Donated to charity?

You're unbelievable, Peter. There's nothing good or kind left in you. I don't know you anymore. [She says quietly, folding her arms across her chest.]

Pragmatic. Warped, but pragmatic. Sometimes you just don't know who you are until you're tested. For me, I found out I'm capable of a lot more than I thought, and for you, you found out dying sucks. We all learned something.

[She doesn't want to feel any sympathy towards him, but she can't help it. Peter may be many things, but he's still her family. And maybe in time she'll learn to forgive him for his actions.]

And what did Derek think about what you did?

Well, he helped kill me, so I have to assume "not much." But I came back and now he can't afford to get rid of me. So I'll just have to make myself useful.

And he trusts you?

[Ahhh hot girl smiling at him, day is officially a 'win' in Stiles' book.]

Well yeah! Maybe the forest is enchanted or something which means even though you got killed you didn't stay dead - killed or uh ... maimed... in a fairy circle or something! Or you had some kind of spell placed on just you intentionally or unintentionally to bring you back in the event that some unfortunate accident would happen. Or maybe not a spell but a talisman like the first Eko Eko Azarak movie, considering how B-movie the rest of the thing is the effects in that last part were pretty good. Or it could have been a doppleganger or changeling trying to take your place who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time so even though there was a body that looked like you it wasn't actually you. Or there's some cosmic energy known as the Phoenix that lets your treat death like a temporary setback - I'm pretty sure Marvel won't do anything as long as they don't know about it except they are owned by Disney now who are right assholes about their copyright violations, but the point still stands because it already jumped to Emma Frost because they finally got tired of Jean Gray and they had to keep it around someone who was dating Scott Summers. [Pause. ... Yeah.]

Of course not. Come on, give him some credit. He's doing pretty well for someone who never expected to be an alpha.

I'm sure he's doing just fine and now that I'm back, you can leave. He doesn't need you trying to influence him.

[Once again Laura has no idea what Stiles is talking about, but she continues to smile all the same and this time when he's done talking she chuckles a little.]

I like the idea of the forest being enchanted. It sounds like something from a fairytale and I use to love those when I was just a little girl.

[Falling silent for a moment, she takes a hand out from the pocket of her leather jacket and offers it to Stiles.] My name's Laura. Laura Hale.

Would you like me to threaten you? Perhaps that would make things more interesting.

I seriously doubt it, but you should do whatever your sweet little heart moves you to do.

How could you do it, Peter? How could you kill your own niece? After the fire-- [She cuts herself off and shudders at the thought.] Derek and I could have helped you. Why didn't you let us?

Look, I said I wasn't well. Maybe you noticed I was practically doing the Exorcist head turn? I only calmed down after taking a weeks long dirt nap.

That's not an excuse.

I didn't say it was. But you asked why, and that's why: because I was always a little this way, but now I'm a lot this way. You can try to kill me or run me out of town if you want. I killed you when you were an alpha, I'm willing to give it another shot if you force the issue.

Never mind you might need my help. Never mind I know more than you and Derek about what we're capable of. Carpe jugulum. Deal with the three alphas on your own, you're big kids.
