So... much... to do...
I... Yes, we know you've been through a lot this past month. You still have a lot on your mind and no one blames you for a day or two spent too distracted to get anything done, so you should stop beating yourself up over that. Everyone has told you that they don't mind waiting, so listen to them. Just because some people haven't been so patient in the past doesn't mean everyone is like them. Some people actually do mean what they say, of course. And you have done a pretty good job at getting back on track, even after all this— probably a better one than most in your situation would have been able to.
That's why I'm very grateful you've been allowing me more time and attention lately. Thank you for that. I'm sure the queen is also very glad too. From both of us: thank you. I know you'll get to starting that post eventually, so don't let it add to your stress right now. I'm liking the spontaneous moments with Arthur and the others that we have, and we have so much to plan for now that we've decided on the family matter! That'll keep us all plenty busy while you take a little more time to get your head screwed back on straight! (And, obviously, I'd appreciate any spare moments you can spend on listening to me tell you more about the kingdom, in case you were wondering about that. Seriously, who wouldn't?)
Oh, and, uh, lastly, we're all proud of you for dealing with that too; it had its moments, but running yourself ragged over something like that was not worth it. It's about time you accepted it. One day at a time with the more important and serious things now, right? Right!

This attitude again? All right, then I'm sure you won't mind me not staring right back at you.
no subject
I... should warn you. I am not your Queen. Y-you shouldn't b-be cheating on him! [red faced]

So Alfred pretends to be hurt, convincing frown turning his lips downward and disappointment clear in his eyes. He doesn't pull away though. ]
Are you that upset with me? Just because I haven't seen you as often as the other doesn't make us any less real. If you're going to be so stubborn, maybe you can sleep alone with the cats tonight.
no subject
I already sleep alone. Idiot.
no subject
Then one more day shouldn't hurt, should it?
no subject
Whatever!
no subject
...I was wondering when you'd show your true colors!
no subject
Pardon? [insulted face!]
no subject
Exactly what I said. One of the other queens I know told me about you.
[ He shrugs, taking off his glasses and examining the lenses. They're all smudged with Arthur's fingertips now, so he frowns and takes out a small blue-violet handkerchief to wipe them clean. ]
no subject
So. You were purposefully trying to rile me up.
no subject
Alfred shrugs and quirks a brow at the other man. Well, the queen isn't wrong, but his actions are a little more nuanced than simply trying to annoy the monarch. ]
Maybe next time you'll be more tolerant of people who are different from what you are used to. You were almost making a scene of yourself.
no subject
H-how dare you! You can't talk to me like that! [huffy]
no subject
Huh? I can't talk to you like how? You were staring, Your Grace. I...
[ He pauses for a moment, obviously finding a little bit of difficulty acknowledging what he's about to acknowledge aloud. ]
...understand that I don't mean to you what you mean to me, but that's doesn't justify your rubbing it in.

It's just, in my world, the King is in love with someone else.
no subject
[ He can't really imagine that though. He knows one of the queens he knows, the one this one has spoken to, used to have romantic interest in the current Queen of Diamonds, but the King is younger than his partner— so much so that he didn't have time to look into being with anyone else and now, he's simply not interested. ]
You know that isn't how it is in my world though, don't you? What were you hoping to have from me?

After a while of merely being quiet, he sighs and reaches out to take the queen's hand, bowing to kiss his knuckles lightly. ]
King Alfred F. Jones, of the First House of Spades. How do you do, Your Grace.
no subject
though his face says it. his expression looks relieved]
...I'm right as rain. [now] Thank you for asking.
no subject
So, you see, it's all he can do, really— keep holding his hand and just manage to restrain himself from leaning in to kiss the queen on the mouth when he smiles at him. He settles for a less intimate, but no less genuinely emotional, peck to the temple. ]
Well, it does sort of rain a lot in our kingdom.
no subject
Ours, too. [his smile becomes a light smirk. a part of him wants to ask how it's possible for two guys to have kids in the other's kingdom. because... he kind of likes that. but he's too much of a gentleman to say anything! besides, it would have seemed like he was snooping....... which he kind of was] And you?
no subject
Me? Oh, I'm well! Great, actually! Arth— Er, I mean, the other you that you met... He and I have decided to start a family, so there's a lot of planning to be done!
no subject
That sounds wonderful. [his smile twitches, because he's so eager to ask, but he doesn't want to be rude... finally he just asks really fast] sohowdomengetpregnantinyourworld!
no subject
...Hm?
[ Unfortunately, Arthur's question is a train-wreck of syllables and the King can only blink and incline his head towards the other man. ]
'Sorry— I don't... think I got that? What about men?
no subject
I... I just wanted to know... How two men in your kingdom have children... [and how i can get in on that]
no subject
The King continues to look confused, as though he can't understand what he's asking exactly, much less why the queen is asking him. ]
...Could you... um, be more specific?
[ It's very possible that he's laying it on pretty thick right now though, just to see Arthur blush some more. ]
