Willow, I love you, and at the risk of a repeat of last Halloween ... Xander's already put one of his eyes out. You with lightsaber, not a mental image I'm loving. They're dangerous to a mega-prefix. All ... burny and slashy all at once.

No! Nowhere in that did I say "boo, boo, Willow can't handle sharp, pointy, burny things." I-It's just -- It's a big step. Huge. Also, dangerous. A-and not to be taken lightly. This is like the car buying of steps.

I mean, I'd train and stuff first. Not like I'm planning on just picking up a lightsaber and swinging it around wildly.

I know you're not. But, ... I just think some -- carefulness should be. Uh. Used.

I'm careful! I've got oodles of carefulness. I want to be helpful, though. And being able to fight with something like that would let me be way helpful. More helpful than I am back home, even.

Right. Very careful. Except for the laundry list of times your carefulness failed to show up to the magic party. [ Okay, that was harsh. Sigh. ] I'm not saying never, I'm just saying that these things take a lot of training.

[It was pretty harsh, and Willow looks kind of hurt about it.] I mess up sometimes, sure, but I haven't in really a long time! Plus, mistakes? Part of learning. And I don't make mistakes with weapons!

I just don't get where all this sudden suspiciousness is coming from.

Haven't in a really long time? Can't have been that long. I've heard futuristic horror stories about memory loss. I -- Look, I'm not trying to bust your chops, I just think the Force isn't something you mess with lightly. It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of training, and even then it's a long while before you can honestly say you're ready.

Futuristic horror stories? [This is Willow being incredibly not happy.] Seems to be a lotta chop-busting going on based on things I haven't even done yet.

Believe me when I say I know the feeling. But, that's not what I'm doing here. You asked if you got a lightsaber, and I'm telling you it takes hard work, a whole lot of training in discipline and a whole lot of being careful.

Look, the part that feels yucky is that you seem to think I wouldn't know that. I've been doing magic for years now. I know this.

Doing magic. Not training in magic. The Force isn't something that can be self-taught the way you've been doing with the magicks. It's volatile.

So I get a teacher. I've done volatile stuff before. I can handle it, Buffy.

I know you can. If you get a teacher and listen to the lessons.

That's because you can usually get away with skipping the lesson part of the lesson.
