Lloyd and Colette will give anyone a chance, faults or not, and they're both really forgiving. I know they care about him, but I don't. I don't see what bringing up other people caring about him has to do with me!

And if you're arguing that I care about that idiot Chosen, why are you trying to pull in unrelated stuff? That doesn't support you point at all, and makes you kinda sound a bit... terrible at intel collection.

People talk to people they don't care about all the time. It's called "close quarters" and being acquainted. Especially since he's the Chosen and I'm the emissary from Tethe'alla to Sylvarant for peace, not to mention next chief of Mizuho, it's kind of a political thing. Politics are full of people who don't care about the people they talk to, unfortunately.

And if I don't keep him out of trouble, it'll be a problem for me. He's too stupid to do it himself.

I know they aren't. You're underestimating the system we were trapped under, as well as the time needed to shift away from the trappings. The Chosen system isn't in use, but it's what people are used to, and they're still clinging to it since they don't know exactly what's going on. Also, you can't change a governing system overnight. It'll take years to fully transition out of it, and until then, we need to make the most of what we can utilize to make that as easy as possible.
