I shall die a thousand deaths before you ever commit, I suppose. How absolutely predictable.
Who are the other vampires in residence? I very much care to acquaint myself with them, especially if their nature is widely known. My dear fathers would never have approved of such dalliances.

[He fights a huge smile. Hrum. Srs vampire elder. Srs.]
[...yeah, that works for about three seconds.]
Yes, some of us come from worlds where vampires live openly. A friend of mine is from one such. It is not a perfect situation, but it has worked out better than one might think.

And what does the food think of this?

[...probably someone with exactly the same mentality that he used to have. He sags slightly. Never mind.]
Humans are not treated as food. They have voluntary and paid donors, and artificial blood. Murder is murder for every citizen, whether they have fangs or not.
Humans react to this in a variety of ways. Some of us hate us very much, some like us very much, and most are in the continuum in between. There has been some violence on both sides.

[ It's been more than a century since he last saw you, Claudia. And he's only barely managing to contain all of the feels. ]

As much of a disappointment as you have been, the three of us together have always owned some degree of decorum. The new vampires think themselves wits with only a little real cleverness shared between their great number.
What fun I shall have, I am sure.

[ Oh, he has to smirk at that. ]
And so you long to be around a better class of vampires, then. Is that right, my daughter?

[If he has a momentary spark of unhappy recollection, it's gone in an instant: wiped away with a saint-like smile.]
You are like me. Come to this city and I will care for you.
no subject
[ Peering up at him warily. ]
Why would you care for me?

[He falters here, wondering if perhaps there is a different answer to this question. His expression is uncertain and full of perplexity when he offers only a repetition of what he said before:]
You are like me.
[And surely, that is reason enough.]
