Okay. [He clears his throat.] Pabu! Give her the fedora special! C'mon!

[Pabu looks at him sideways for a moment before hopping from Bolin's shoulder to his neck, standing on his front legs in a handstand and revolving in a full circle before finally curling up on Bolin's head with just his tail hanging out down the back. He looks sort of like a living Davey Crockett hat.]

[... Okay, that is adorable. She wishes she had (THE AVATAR EQUIVALENT IS THERE EVEN A WORD FOR IT) a camera, okay.

That is impressive. I didn't even know fire ferrets could learn so much. You must be a pretty good teacher, huh? Although Pabu is pretty amazing himself.

[that last bit is said almost directly to Pabu, and she reaches out so he can sniff her hand and decide whether or not he'd like to be petted at the moment.]

I've been working with him since he was a little baby! He's smarter than most people, and probably smarter than most fire ferrets.

[And here Bolin reaches up and gives Pabu a few good pets, looking kind of like he's petting his own head to encourage himself. As he puts his hand down Pabu looks up, sniffing at Asami. No treats? Oh well. He'll let her pet him, of course. She's Bolin's friend and that makes her his.

Bolin keeps talking as though there isn't anything on his head.]

He and I, we've, y'know, got a bond. Seen each other through thick and thin. Mostly thin.

[Sorry Pabu. She's not in the habit of carrying ferret treats around. Maybe she should start? But she scratches him gently between the ears anyway.

No. I never had time for them, I guess. We had a koi pond, but it's not quite the same thing.

[Besides, she's more a vehicle kind of girl, though Naga and Pabu are great.]
