You pick truly irrational times to revisit your fondness for me. We are both aware of this. Although you have my gratitude for allowing me this time with Zexion--and to take a more logical route with the Keybearer--, and I am willing to exist in the world you have offered me to, I must request a measure of caution.

You anticipate the burden of your studies to be a strenuous one. Do not overextend yourself. If you wish to manipulate me, then do so, and do so consistently and well--your inattention will not be well-received, by your friends or myself. Do not attempt to do so simply because you wish to be able to emulate me in your own affairs, or to increase my presence in your life.

Know this: I will not leave you. I will not resist your decisions. But nor will I condone shoddy work on any project you pursue, either. Make your decisions, and execute them. Use me as you please, and I will do my utmost to help you however I can--but do not neglect me, and do not neglect yourself or your education. You stand to gain too much at this point to sabotage yourself with weakness of purpose or heart.

I don't dispute that it's a solid strategy. A sensible plea. I would detest to see you put to a post in haste, then cast aside for other obligations.

We're quite agreed on that. I'll admit, I'm not as good at such pretenses as some of our own--Demyx, for example--, but I intend to do what I can. My hypothesis is that the child needs only to properly invest in a solid structure and stability for her duties, and she will be able to maintain a smooth enough functioning routine to free the resources necessary to attend to me properly.

But ah-! Don't criticize that one too harshly in my own keeper's earshot. Demyx is among hers too, though he hasn't exhibited any signs of life recently. Typical.

Criticize him? On the contrary, I find his considerable expressive talent impressive; Demyx has a rare gift for creativity far beyond anything I could hope to produce. Quite the shame he chooses not to show himself lately, is it not?

I don't mind the extra room, to be honest. As you say, it is unwise to spread oneself too thin.

I find Demyx agreeable enough company, save for situations demanding his supervision. But if his presence overly crowds and spreads resources too thin, then perhaps it's for the best that he's found other things to engage him.

He'll come around on a whim in his own time, I'm sure.

As I understand it, I am to have my heart and memories altered utterly, to remake me into a native citizen of a ravaged world full of darkness and corruption. There, my job will be much the same as Aeleus' once was..... and the loss of my heart will be due to the unpredictable results of an experiment gone awry. Whereas we brought a world of Light to its knees through the influence of Darkness and Heartless, my Mundane seems intrigued by the concept of an already desecrated world tainting and claiming me instead.

How terrible and interesting. Do you expect much insight, running this alternate scenario?

My name will remain unchanged; this..... additional other self will not have the benefit of such extensive research as ours to consider himself a separate entity. Nor would such a strict separation truly be correct, lacking the existence of Heartless to make it so.

[Have brows furrowed with displeasure; the thought of using his Somebody's name for this different world just feels off. It profanes the idea of having a true identity to begin with--Aeleus remains a state of being to return to, an original self, while Lexaeus is a suitable name for any such perversion of his circumstances.]

I anticipate a more solitary existence, without reliable colleagues such as yourself to associate with. As for insight..... That remains to be seen. Even if this proposed path is distasteful, I suppose I can't fault my Mundane for scientific rigor in exposing me to different conditions..... I will monitor this self's progress closely, and she will no doubt do the same.

There are considerably less tasteful options out there than a world of darkness and corruption- as nearly all worlds are subject to those.

But I hope for you the best- you'll keep me informed of progress?

Few seem consumed by it to quite this extent, but you are correct--I've been informed of plenty of worlds that I would find far less hospitable than this.
