celebrating 30 years of TRON

Greetings, User!

It feels good to see the old I/O tower in use again after all this time. I was starting to believe you no longer had a use for me. Now that the port of communication's open, what is it that you need?

Oh, I don't know if I'm outfitted for one of these 'games' just yet. They all take place in the User world, don't they? It'd be an honor to go, of course, but there's so much I would need to learn. I haven't availed myself of Flynn's library as much as I should have. Keeping Grid bugs at bay takes most of my runtime these days.

Nine rounds of rigged (not in his favor) lightcycle matches? Yeah. That was bad. Running for his life across Encom's system, an archaic mainframe, the open Internet, and F-Con's system? That was bad, too.

The mention of "Flynn" makes Jet stop cold, his circuitry noticeably glowing brighter for a moment.

"Flynn? As in...as in Kevin Flynn?! The...the Lost User?"

He sets his jaw and braces for it. When he does speak, it's quiet and strained. There's too much of too many emotions choking his vocal cords.

"What happened?"

{{This version's Legacy-compliant, so to speak. The events of 2.0 happened, but Lora's accident "merely" injured her.}}

{{Yes, indeed. the mun gets a little teary-eyed watching the film now, because of how tragically it all turned out.}}

He's not entirely sure what that all means, but the heaviness in Tron's voice conveys the gist of it.

"He's...he's dead. I guess I should have expected that."

Expected or not, it still hurts. He hangs his head. In the analog world, he would try to pass it off as something in his eye, but that won't fly in cyberspace; no dust, dirt, or sand here.

"Was it...?"

Was it all for nothing?
Was he still trying to help the Programs?
Was it quick? Relatively painless?
Was it something Pop or I could have prevented if only we knew?

"Was he still a good man at the end?"
