Tights are fashionable with the girls nowadays, aren't they? ( His tone is speculative. And unironic. Completely unironic. ) I'm sure Rise has a few extra pairs that she'd let us borrow.

You want to borrow tights from Rise? [ Souji may think this is a great idea, but Yosuke isn't... so... sure. ] I think she'd let you borrow a pair, but she'd probably think I was a creep.

( Souji raises a brow, saying more with his expression than words could hope to encapsulate. ) I get it. Your embarrassment is a front. You don't actually want to be my sidekick.

( Yosuke's probably going to get a pair of tights for his next birthday. Just so you know. )

What? No, that's not what I meant! [ Sigh. And now Yosuke is backpedaling. Over tights. It only takes a moment for him to just deflate, shoulders slumping in defeat. ]

Rise wears black tights, right? [ Because this is the really important part. Why do you do this to him, Souji. ]

( And, just like that, Souji's disapproval snaps back to the mild amusement he'd been ensconced in before.

Oh, Yosuke. You make this too easy. ) Hm, maybe you're right. Black's alright for me, but... you'd need something a little more — colorful.

[ Do you see this grimace, Souji? Do you? This is all your fault.

Yosuke's imagination is doing horrible things to him now. He really doesn't like the idea of running around like Robin in those neon green tights. ] Oh, c'mon. Can't we just match or something?

It's all about complementary contrast. Appealing to the masses visually as well as morally. We need to be different enough to be differentiated, but still two parts of one whole. ( This is all delivered in the calm, decisive tone of Souji the Leader.

Basically — no, Yosuke, you plebeian. We can't match. ) Maybe we should talk to Kanji about this.

( It's getting rather difficult for Souji to mask his grin at this point, but his efforts are valiant. )

[ Okay, so about half of that goes over his head, but Souji sounds confident enough that Yosuke's both interested and terrified now. He does catch that Souji has completely tossed the idea of matching out the window. Crap.

The mention of Kanji cues up a look of sheer disbelief. ] No, no! You know, it's cool. Colored tights and all, I mean. Batman and Robin were cool enough in them and they didn't have help, right?

[ He's too busy having a costume meltdown to even notice Souji's struggle with hiding his grin. He'll just keep rambling instead. ] They took down a lot of bad guys in colored tights. If they can do it, we totally can too. How hard can it be? [ ... ] Not that it didn't take effort. I'm sure it did. No one just wakes up and decides, "Hey, I'm gonna be a badass with a metal boomerang and take out a guy in a penguin costume."

[ Now might be a good place to stop him. ]

( And that's Souji's breaking point. A metal boomerang and a penguin costume.

It starts as a soft murmur of laughter, but soon Souji has to cover his mouth in the attempt to swallow his amusement. Then, once he thinks he's regained his composure, he darts a glance in Yosuke's direction, catches sight of that caught-between-a-rock-and-a-hard-place expression, and he's lost. )
