Which one? There's so many little stops and starts. Oh, I know.
[He snaps his fingers and smiles.]
Why don't we start with the fact that when you pulled Sam Winchester out of Lucifer's cage, you left his soul behind? That's where it all started to go wrong for you, isn't it? After all; pride, Castiel ...
[He takes a swaying, swaggering step closer, leaning in.]
[Allow him to glower a moment while all that sinks in. Ah, there we go, there it is. His eyes widen momentarily as Cas focuses not on his return trip to Hell or where he would have gotten that kind of juice from again OR that he left Sam's soul behind, but on the younger brother that got sent to Hell in the first place.]
Sam got into Lucifer's cage... [His attention snaps to back to Crowley, searching his face for any unspoken answers.] How?
[For a moment Crowley says nothing, searching Castiel's expression back. Then, slowly, a grin spreads across the demon's face and he laughs.]
No. Really? You're from that far back? Oh, my dear angel, you have so much fun just lurking ahead of you. But to answer your question: he threw himself in, of course.
[Oh he hates this place. He really really hates this place.
Castiel looks away, eyes downcast, but not standing to be mocked to his face.]
Why?
[His voice became so laden with ~emotion~ that it threatens to crack, so he clears his throat (shut up, you heard nothing). He already knows the answer to this one, but he has to hear it to get the whole story. If Sam had thrown himself into the pit, then he'd done it for them, to save Earth and stop the apocalypse. ...It also meant that Lucifer had taken his vessel.]
Start listening. You tossed the devil and big-brother-angel into the cage without taking account for what was going to happen after. You got lucky with me becoming King of Hell, Castiel. But you really should've made sure you had someone else in charge in Heaven who wasn't going to bugger things up.
[Michael was in the cage? Well that went a long way to explain a few things. If Michael was lost, Heaven would be in chaos. Who would lead them? Raphael would be an obvious contender, although that left Cas with an uneasy feeling. The other angels would be looking for a leader and would blindly follow whoever stepped up. It wasn't right. They should have minds of their own.
Cas swallowed, realization sinking in. He had started a civil war. Pit brother against brother. Intentionally or not he didn't know, but he obviously had a big part to play.]
[His Father had all but washed his hands of his children, both angel and man. Last Cas had heard, God had all but wanted the apocalypse, refusing to interfere or stop His sons and daughters in bringing about the Holy war to end all Holy wars.
He probably should have done a better job at hiding his confusion and that small glimmer of hope that maybe God hadn't abandoned them after all. That it, the apocalypse and its apparent prevention by two boys and a fallen angel, were all a part of His plan and had been the whole time.
Yes, there is still a part of Castiel that would like to believe that.
He shakes his head.]
You must be mistaken.
i've only just heard it tbh, a friend recommended the lyrics to me! :D
Well, granted, it only happened after you'd been smote by Lucifer and Sam had technically stopped the apocalypse, but yes, Castiel, Daddy was apparently paying attention.
I'd have to relisten, but I think the album it's from is very...crowstiel? if that's your shtick
Castiel stills wants to think that Crowley is lying, because it's just so much easier to believe in an apathetic and absent God, than it is to believe the alternative. How blindly Castiel had once believed that God would save them all, and now just how skewed Castiel's faith has become.
It's infuriating, and Cas just wants to scream why at the sky. Why resurrect him, a fallen angel, and not just for the first time, but the second (technically 3rd, but he's not angel poofed himself just yet) if they supposedly stop the apocalypse? Has God anticipated the war in Heaven? Of course He has, He's probably known all along how it will all end...
So this begs the question, does God want the war in Heaven? Is that why He gives him a 'power-boost'? To- to what? Incite his brothers and sisters into civil war? Why would their Father want any of this?
Instead of screaming himself hoarse, Castiel leans back against a near-by wall, head bowed, eyes on the ground between he and Crowley.]
None of this makes any sense.
it's not, really, but i need to check out more of his music anyways, so cheers :3
[Crowley's just watching the emotions flicker over Castiel's face--as much as Castiel shows them, at least. After so long with the angel, Crowley can read him very well. He shrugs casually, brushing some non-existent lint off his shoulder.]
Yes, well, that's what makes life interesting, isn't it?
[He sighs at Crowley's irreverence, although (annoyingly) he does have a point. If they have truly gone off page and changed the course of the future by averting the apocalypse, then life, it would seem, certainly does have its own little nuances. Who could have predicted it? Apparently not the angels. Maybe God.
Cas raises his head, regarding Crowley coolly with a new topic in mind.]
And where are you in all of this?
[Crowley has taken over Hell by all accounts, and Castiel has started a civil war, but what had they needed from one another? What were the terms of this 'contract'? ]
As I told you and your boyfriends previously, I'd rather Earth didn't get destroyed, especially since demons would be next on Lucifer's list. Stopping Raphael from restarting the end is a fair motivation for getting involved, wouldn't you agree?
[He does, but it isn't the answer he's looking for.]
And what do you seek to gain in return for helping the Winchesters? Protection?
[Cas likes to believe he's an angel of his word and wouldn't renege on such a deal, but then he would also like to believe he's not going to be responsible for another Holy rebellion (and a demon is only a demon, after all).
Evidently his beliefs are based on falsehoods.
Something else is nagging at him, though. Something Crowley had said right at the beginning of their little discussion. Something about Purgatory. What does that anathematized place have to do with anything?]
Who ever said I was helping the Winchesters, love? Did you miss the 'King of Hell' part? I don't need your protection. I just didn't want the planet to start strolling back down the path TO THE BLOODY APOCALYPSE.
[Well, and he was supposed to get half the souls in Purgatory, but he's not mentioning that part. Yet. Let Castiel stew a little longer. In this case, the Winchesters were nothing more than a means to an end ... kind of like loose cannonballs in a dinghy.]
[Crowley can shout all he likes, it's unlikely to ever get much of a rise out of Castiel. With a tired and put-upon sigh, Cas eases up out of his lean.]
Astoundingly I heard you the first time.
[Cas jams his hands into the deep pockets of his coat and turns away from Crowley, seemingly contemplating the ceiling, wishing he could still communicate with his brothers. Or anyone, really.]
I'm curious. This 'contract' you mentioned. [He looks over his shoulder at Crowley.] What were the terms?
ty, ty, i do try
[He snaps his fingers and smiles.]

... comes before the Fall.
Not worthy, we're not worthy orz

fff best reference.
Not that I'm complaining, of course; it did work. Right up until someone started to mess things up.
I imagine Crowley would stomp on them until their squeakers broke however .__.
Still not meeting Crowley's eyes, he looks off to the side. Composure regained, but mood obviously effected.]
Speak plain.
he probably fed them to Growley first
Now that's a mess no one wants to clean up 8(

Raphael.
at least someone had some fun with them!
Raphael. Of course, things don't go too well for you after that. God may have given you a power-boost, Castiel--but you're no Archangel.
Kudos on the Voltaire BTW! Definitely Crowley's theme song.

Uh-uh, angel. If I told you now, you'd be forewarned later, wouldn't you?
What are these crazy timezones we live in XD
[Ask a stupid question, Cas...]
mine's Australian XD
Aah, that explains it! I'm in England, so that's like, what 12 hours time diff? o.O
Fine. Don't tell me. I'm sure I'll find someone who will.
i think so, yep! almost exactly opposite
Good luck, angel. Take care to avoid the Winchesters, now. From my understanding they're not terribly happy with your attempt at rescuing them.
[Truth, untruth; in this place, it could be either. Mostly just some more fun at Castiel's expense.]
Madness, I say!
Then at least they won't lie to me.
unequivocally
fff I'm sorry about these late tags, please know that I WON'T EVER DROP YOU
ahaha yes well ... /looks at date orz
\o/ as bad as each other then, I can deal with this!
