In the meantime; you have some observations to write up, some polishing to do on my journal notes, and some more investigations for me to work on.

Yes-She's not as observant as I am but from what she's told me and what I know of the organization she was their top biochemist and at the time of her sister's betrayal irreplaceable.

[Sherlock does have some competition.]

She didn't go to public school. Haibara was kept locked within the organization so while other children were just learning multiplication she already far ahead of that.

They had high expectations of her. I guess it's because they wanted her continue some secret project.

And clearly she is... if she's trying to find a cure for the two of you.

[He tilts his head in thought.]

Does she ever try these drugs herself?

[Maybe she is still working for them and is only testing the drugs on Conan to see if they're safe for her or not.]

Very recently. However, I'm usually the one that tests it first because it's safer considering the Organization is actively hunting for her. And.. I usually volunteer to test it.

Volunteer? You must be quite desperate.

[That might be a slight hint of disappointment in Sherlock's tone.]

Of course I am! It's degrading being stuck like this. I hate getting shoo'd away from a crime scene, or that I have to follow a set sleeping schedule, I hate getting picked up and tossed around. I don't weigh very much anymore so I'm a lot easier to cart off- I've been kidnapped more times than I can count in the past two years. And that's not to mention all the people that have tried to kill me because they thought I couldn't defend myself.

Oh, and then there's the annoying fact that there's a jewel thief that managed to learn the truth and now likes borrow my real face whenever he knows I'll be around.

[Sherlock chuckles, amused.]

Most of that has nothing to do with age... just ask John.

[John would say it has most to do with knowing Sherlock.]

No one even attempted any of that before I shrank-and really being kidnapped so many times is annoying. [ Not scary, just annoying. ]

I only am sharing what he so often complains to me about.

[John doesn't really complain, it's usually phrased as a question or a demand.]

Well, it is a colossal waste of time. Thankfully, it's not that difficult to make a kidnappers life a living hell- they get particularly nervous when I'm calm about the whole thing or just glare at them until they risk leaving the room.

[ Because this is clearly how you act when you've been kidnapped. Yup :| ]

Impressive that works on someone so young. When I was younger and I would try that, they would just laugh at me.

[Granted that was schoolmates, which is a different situation completely. Also, Sherlock approves of such methods, if one can pull them off without making matters worse.]

I guess they're unnerved by the idea I'm not afraid of them. Although, sometimes that just encourages them to kick me around.

[Sherlock doesn't like the sound of that at all.]

Most people don't exactly like being outwitted by a seven year old.

I suppose they don't, but I do not approve of people picking on the defenseless.

[Sorry, Conan, but physically you fall into that category.]

[ He just kind of shrugs. By now he's quite used to cheating death. ]

Most of them were already guilty of murder.

That does not mean you should add yourself to their collection.

[Humm... Sherlock is thinking that Conan might need some discipline.]

What about your parents?

I don't intend to add myself to their numbers, I have a few tricks up my sleeve that can usually get me out of a tight spot.

[ He just kind of blinks. ]

My parents? They're in L.A.

And you're on your own?

Ah, well.. not really. At the moment I'm staying at a detective agency.

But, before I shrank I was living on my own since my parents took a trip to LA nearly four years ago and decided to buy a house their. [ his parents: most childish people ever. ]

They abandoned you.

[Leave it to Sherlock to say it the bluntest way possible. Pause. Rewind.]

What do you mean you're staying at a "detective agency"?

[His tone suggests that he might find that... disturbing.]

They didn't abandon me. They just like to pack up and go glob trotting whenever they feel like it-more commonly around about the time Dad's deadlines draw nearer. They still call and visit sometimes. Although that's usually after they've had some kind of fight. Mom Charters a jet and comes home long enough to make dad comes after her. It's... a constant headache and makes me happy I chose to stay in Japan.

As for the detective agency, my childhood friend's dad is a retired police detective and now just works as a private detective. The Agency is on the second floor and the living quarters on third.

They visit... so they know what's happened to you.

[He smirks as Conan finishes speaking about his parents.]

Well, I suppose if you don't miss them that much, it can't be that bad.

[He raises an eyebrow at the last bit, though.]

I think I'm starting to understand your... obsession. You can't be me...

[Mostly because he's the only Consulting Detective in the world, and he plans to keep it that way.]

Yes. But they didn't bother to tell me they knew and decided instead that they'd test my skills as a detective and show me how dangerous my life was by impersonating the organization that shrank me. [ Because his parents are annoying :| ]

[ At that, Conan raises an eyebrow- Sherlock may be his idol but everyone seemed to be under the misconception that he wanted to be -JUST- Like Holmes when that was only half true. Honestly, he did it for the mental stimulation and thrill of chasing down criminals. ]

I'm living at the detective agency because it seemed like an ideal place to find information on the organization. The only problem is that Occhan's a hack detective and frequently needs a shove in the right direction.
