[ And he feels smaller and smaller. If it weren't for the fact he didn't feel like his bones were melting he might have thought he was shrinking again. The whole situation is just embarrassing to him-it had been such an amateur mistake and it had cost him dearly. ]

I've been trying to work that out for the better part of two years. What I do know is that they are part of a criminal organization with alcoholic based code names. I also know they wouldn't hesitate to kill me and anyone associated with me if they found out their poison didn't kill me.

You're ashamed. They tried to kill you. Why do you feel ashamed?

[That would be one feeling things that Sherlock will never understand. But he does understand the anger that is building. Because, though seventeen isn't so much a kid anymore, it's still too young to face something like that. And the shame that Conan is expressing only makes Sherlock angrier.

People get him wrong. It's not that he doesn't care. It's that he cares too much and so he often locks it away, because he understands how distracting it is to let emotions have control. But in this place, he can be a bit freer.]

Because-Because it shouldn't have happened. I should have been more aware-I- [ He swallows hard-the night flashing in his memory again as it's become quite clear he'll have to relive it all over again. ]

When I was sixteen I took a friend to an amusement there was a murder on the rollar coaster we were on and two of the suspects were these really shady looking guys dressed all in black with cold, unfeeling eyes that made suspect that they had killed before-but I let it go. It wasn't like it was important though-they couldn't have been the murderer in the decapitation case because I already knew who did do it. [ Of all the cases he's solved that is probably one of the ones he remembers best of all. It was the last case Kudo Shinichi was able to take credit for. ]

Later, I ran across one of the two and since he was acting suspicious, I followed. He met up with the CEO of some company-I can't remember which-just that they were talking about illegal gun smuggling and the CEO was being black mailed-I know that because I saw the pay off money. [ He's managed to stay mostly composed this whole time but now that he's reached the worst part of the story there's a definite change in his tone as his voice breaks slightly. ]

But I forgot there were two! [ He sounds somewhat helpless before shaking his head regain his composure. ] The other-well-I remember he said something-I can't remember what it was because the next thing I knew I was on the ground with a blinding headache.

[ Possibly subconsciously, his hand goes to rub his head where the blow might have landed. ]

The last thing I remember before blacking out was them talking about some poison that couldn't be detected- suddenly I felt really warm-everything was heating up-I felt like-like I was melting.

((ooc: Conan's canon is amazing! ..Really, REALLY confusing at times but AMAZING :D You just... have to devote a lot of time to it if you read it from start to finish for the first time.))

[Sherlock listens closely to the story. When Conan is finished, he squats so that he is level with Conan. He does this because what he has to say is very important. And well, this is as close as he can get to treating Conan like a equal.]

Don't blame yourself. Everyone makes mistakes.

[Sherlock pauses. Sherlock never admits to mistakes or errors, but maybe it will help Conan to know what happened is not his fault.]

There was a case I was working a couple years ago. I ended up in what I thought was an empty flat. The window was open, there were clues that a killer had been there maybe only minutes before me. Only... I was stupid. The window was open, which meant he was still there. I was lucky, he only strangled me enough to leave me with a warning...

[He pauses and meets Conan's eyes. He could say more, but if Conan understands, he won't waste his breath.]

But you were lucky. You don't have to live the consequences. I have sit through elementary school again- I have to watch someone I care about worry and cry over me when really I'm right there-I have to sit on the sidelines and watch the life I once had pass me by.

Oh, I did have to live with the consequences. It's just mine were different and less... permanent. But if a chemical made you this way, there must be a chemical out there to reverse it.

[Though, if a lot of time has passed, that's probably futile.]

...I have a friend that's working on a cure. [ A friend that would probably kill him for being so open about all this. ]

The best I have right now is a temporary cure-but it only lasts about twenty four hours.

That depends what you count as harmful. Going from seven back to seventeen again in under a minute is extremely painful and a strain on the heart.

No, not that I've noticed. It kind of feels like it might burst for a heartbeat or two but then everything heats up and I get the familiar feeling like my bones are melting and reforming.

Possibly, or it could mean that something in the poison somehow changed your genetic make up.
